• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

OT - Now @ 3GHz!!!

Not to get too off topic here, but with all this talk about being green, folks need to realize the modern popular green movement is A LOT MORE about this kind of green "$$$", than green trees. I don't want to diminish LEGITIMATE environmental concerns, but modern green cultish fanaticism (lead by Al Gore and his mindless minions) is out of control.
Amazing the hype people will buy into. :bs:

Parts of every avalanche go astray, but I am glad that this avalanche is on its way in the first place.
Of course there's a truckload of Bravo Sierra out there concerning saving the environment, but I like the fact that the general idea has come to everyone's attention.

Interesting to know, I've got an Antec power supply that also boasts of it's green potential so maybe I have lots to spare... SLi? Hehe.

For FSX? Forget it. No advantage with SLI.

Fox News...

But I think we should stop. After all, this is about Flightsimming and hardware and not about green vs not green.

Al Gore did the environmentalists a disservice. As a politician he added distrust not weight to the cause thus allowing gas guzzeling nations the right to ignore the facts and the facts are melting before our very eyes.

Funny how many criticize Fox news without actually ever watching it. As for me, I view many different sources of news, all with a VERY skeptical eye - including Fox.

On another note, day 3 now @3GHz without a single glitch. Temps running in the mid-40's to low 50's.

Keep those 3Ghz then.

If you dare, you can also try 3.2Ghz.
Make sure to watch the temps. The highest acceptable core temperature during a Prime95 run would be 70°C.
You will never get to see those temperature regions in FSX though.

Think I'll just stick with 3.0 as I'm extremely happy with the performance so far. I'm still thinking of a new fan though - any reccomendations?

Very low budget: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.
Low budget: OCZ Vendetta 2 // Xigmatek S1283 (essentially two brands for the same cooler)
High budget: Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme + custom fan

My HSF is marked in bold and I can recommend it 100%. Feel free to google some reviews; you'll see that the S1283 keeps your CPU only a tiny bit less cool than the high budget combos, while costing only about $50.
