The GTX 1080 will be available for $599 on May 27, and you can also snag a special NVIDIA-designed "founders edition" for $699 (which looks like it includes a stylish new cooler). Almost as an afterthought, NVIDIA also revealed that the GTX 1070 is coming on June 10 for $379 (the founders edition will run you $449).

NVIDIA didn't have too many technical details to share about either card, but it gave out a few stats: The 1080 pumps out 9 teraflops and packs in 8GB of Micron's new GDDR5X RAM. The 1070, which is also faster than the Titan X, spits out 6.5 teraflops and also has 8GB of RAM (though that one is running GDDR5 tech). For the smart gamer, it sounds like the GTX 1070 will be a pretty good deal (just like the 970 was).

Wow... 1070 faster than Titan X for $379 with 8GB worth of RAM!!! This one arrive June 10th. :encouragement:

The GeForce GTX 1080 will be faster than two GTX 980s in SLI, according to Huang. And the GTX 1070 will outpunch a Titan X.

Now we will have to see real benchmarks on these when they get released. Confusions as always!

Also from Nvidia announcement today

Unfortunately NVIDIA has not yet disclosed detailed specs of GeForce GTX 1070. It is only said that it has 6.5 TFLOPs performance and that it’s faster than TITAN X. Assuming it has similar clocks to GTX 1080, then it should have around 2048 CUDA cores.

Ah the days when $400 or $500 was pocket change. . .lol. . .wait, what? Never mind I was dreaming, lol.

But will FSX run smoothly on it???????? Hahahaha!

It's difficult to max-out the current series of cards with FSX unless you're running at 4k with lots of eye candy. The limiting factor is almost always the CPU. So, if all you'll use it for is FSX, the only thing that the new cards will do is empty your wallet.

Reading this with interest Ted... Thanks! Just built a 6700k machine w/ M2s and purposely got a 750Ti just to tide me over until this GPU was released.... Fingers crossed this will be better than the 980Ti for P3D v3.2.

Ta!

^ Yep me too! Usually hang out at Guru3d and can't wait till the reviews arrive! A billion+ to develop these cards... wow!

Saving up lunch money and not buying $4.00 latte's. Awaiting this one with very great interest.
Thanks for the heads up TF.....

DTG and P3D will love the new...

Looking forward to these when the gaming benches are done. As for the stated performance claims, they are done in VR mode.

Waiting for Guru3d to do some comparison to the 980ti or Titan X in gaming mode!

I had a look at this last week at my regular supplier.
You'd need a box with a horizontal mobo to take the weight of a pair of these suckers.
Tempted but I'll wait and see how the GTX 1080 weighs in, bloody A$ is trending down to the Pacific Peso level again!:banghead:

I can't speak for FSX, but I'm willing to bet this will be amazing for P3D! It will also be great for Oculus Rift.
