I rarely post these days, but I drop in everyday and always follow the discussions with interest. With the soon to be released OFFBHAH, I thought I would show my appreciation to you virtual model makers by sharing my RC model with you.

This is my RC quarter scale Fokker D6 built from the kit of the outstanding designer Glenn Torrance from the USA. I recently finished it after a year and a half. It has a Zenoah 26cc petrol engine and is covered with printed lozenge fabric and lots and lots of dope. There were only about 60 D6 aeroplanes in production- it has a very similar fuselage to the DR1 and wings of the D7 (although smaller). The original aeroplanes had a rotary engine and it was meant to be an intercepter due to the quick warm up time of the rotary compared to the inline engine of the D7. The fokker D8 was the death of the D6 as all rotary's went their way!

RC and OFF go hand in hand, in that if I can't fly due to inclement weather (more often than not in the UK) then I can fly OFF. The physics are the same.

Thank you to Winder and Pol and the team for all your hard work. Have a very happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Who knows, there may be a D6 to fly in OFF in the future.:icon_lol:

Happy Days,

Conrad.

Very nice a/c, I'd never fly it with that much time and effort invested.

Conrad wow what a beauty!

You have done a magnificent job! When will she fly?

As to a D6 in OFF well if things go well sales wise then we will continue to add and expand OFF.

Thanks for the pics.

Best

WM

Thanks for the kind words.
I love building these things, but it is scary on maiden flights. It hasn't flown yet WM. Today would have been great when I took the pictures, but the wife was working, so I had the kids. I am hoping between Boxing Day and New Year.
Daveebee, the wingspan is 6' 3'' to be precise.

I love Fokker's wing section- they were so wide on his later aeroplanes that us RC guys and girls can fit all the radio, batteries plus the kitchen sink in there:icon_lol:.
All the best,
Conrad.

Yes that's beautiful Conrad thanks for posting it.

We have a DVI partly done but will need major updating now to be up to standard.

A little background on the DVI, there were 60 built, of 120 ordered, because while they were intended to be intercepters, they were just too dang slow to intercept anything besides a british bomber. Without an escort.

Someone here said the DVI was utilized as a trainer, I believe it

PS . . Great Model

Beautiful plane Conrad! Good luck with her, she's a beauty.

Lets hope there is enough interest shown in Phase 3 to maybe work it for release.

Lets also hope we 'Krumpet' skinners get the chance to skin it before the 'Black Baron' and his cronies spirit it away behind their lines :wiggle:

wow Conrad! That's gorgeus!! The colors are spot on, and the look is near realistic... in fact, I thought it full scale when I first looked at it. Good luck with her.

PS... I like your yard too. It looks like a really nice and peacful place where you live. :)

Please tell us you will have a camera man on hand to film the maiden flight.

Post it on Youtube that would be a beauty to see fly.

Excellent work :applause: :applause:

In fact, why not flight test it by flying south towards Lincolnshire. I'll catch it when the fuel gets too low :applause:

Again, thanks for your positive comments.
OVS- I live on the North Yorkshire coast (the home of Captain Cook) and I'm very lucky. The colopur of the fabric are printed by Glenn Torrance http://www.flygtm.com/ his website is worth a look to see what us RC scale fanatics get up to. WF2 certainly knows him. He goes to great length to get historical accuracy using original drawings and windsock data files- just like you guys for your models.

sandbagger - with the 1 litre tank on board, it should reach you, but make sure you have a spare tranny to land it:icon_lol:.

Happy Days,
Conrad.

A very Beautiful model indeed! but I'd be too scared to fly it as with my luck, i'd prang it on the first flight! :kilroy:

How long have you been making models like these?

Excellent model Conrad!:applause:

As an R/C modeller myself I know the work you must have put into such a beautifull aircraft!

Seeing pic 1, I thought it to be a real size plane. If you wanted, you could take pics from a lower angle, and it would seem real size. Great beautiful work, superb colouring! I wish you all the best for her maiden flight!
Olham

PS: And thank you for getting the information out of the OFF team, that they are thinking of adding this plane on later.

Excellent work. I fly RC aircraft - electric, yes, but i do love to see such beautiful model planes fly.- I.C or electric.

That is some lovely model.
