OT: Suberbowl commercial you should be sure to miss ...

Is your argument because it's a gay dating site or simply because it's a dating site in general?

I'm mildly curious; I know nothing about the Superbowl nor do I have any inclination what kind of ads they show "normally".

just started getting my Snacks in ready for the Superbowl, and my brewski's :ernae:

this kind of advert.... erm not really needed though, thankfully the usually don't have ads on the UK TV coverage, just goes to the studio if i recall... no ads :applause: i think thats what normally happens :icon_lol:

Well, if you don't like the ads.......................................ever hear about changing the channel?

The Super Bowl normally has the Largest paying advertising
for the Year
didnt we have the Michael Jackson pepsi ad.
I would not have thought it was affordable
to do that, i have put in for the SOH Henry Speedo
ad but we have not got enough donations to cover it:icon_lol:
H

Gee. Something about the 1st Amendment, maybe? :icon_lol:

Guess if they want to fork over the money for the ridiculously high advertising spots, that's their choice.

Guess if you don't want to see those ads, mute them, switch the channel, or walk to the fridge and grab another beer like you were going to go do, anyway. :d

BTW, I applaud the Tim Tebow commercial, especially in a world that the media subjects everyone to all matters and types of sexual content, day and night, and how great and carefree having casual sex is.
But that very same media never, never, explains the ramifications or responsibilities of having said carefree and casual sex.
Do they? :kilroy:

All the Tim Tebow will commercial explain is that there are options available to someone who is pregnant, choices, as the other side in the debate is fond of stating.

CBS also stated they would air a Pro-Choice ad, of course if they come up with the money.
I'm sure they will from their supporters.

SO, no one should really be 'offended' at all come Super Bowl Sunday, should they?
Here in the US, its guaranteed by the 1st Amendment.
Enjoy your rights All! :USA-flag: :wavey:

(And I suppose since I mentioned politics, religion, and sex all in the same post I prolly got this thread closed. Sorry!)
:icon_lol:

Be very careful on this thread. You might offend someone. :monkies:

yeah i'm a Steelers person myself.... but I enjoy it whoever is out there, off topic but who're you all fancying for this one...? gonna get the sweepstakes going amongst my friends :icon_lol:

back to the origins of this topic..im a bisexual male...or most people believe that makes me gay...so be it..but the artical says that the commercail shows two men as there hands brush together..then they make out as anotherman sits nearby horrified...i too would be horrified if two grown men would start makingout in a crowded stadium...thats not the place...i dont like it wehn married men and women make out in public places such as a football stadium.there are places to be loving and places to be "sporty"...be a fan..not sit there and smootch..watch the game..go home and smooch...if the ad was just two men sitting together maybe talking and passing looks..and then went to the dating site stuff...id be ok with that....dave

It isn’t about tolerance, nor is it about censorship. If I come over to your house for a gathering, and you ask the guests to please kindly refrain from talking about topic ______, I will not care why you ask, only that you did, and I, as a guest, will comply with your request, because it’s the polite thing to do. That's pretty easy, isn't it?

Yup, if someone asks you to not talk about something out of common courtesy and good manners you don't talk about it...

For the record, I have problems with commercials for products I have no need of using either. (certain hygene products come to mind most readily ...)

I also have problems with Drug companies trying to hawk their drugs on an ususpecting public at the risk of death based on some of the warnings. My slant is that drugs should be prescribed by a doctor to a patient, not the patient asking the doctor to prescribe such and such just because of a commercial on tv.

But hey, I've been told I'm weird too, so go figure.

There is a place and a time for ads like the one linked above, during a prime time football game when families with small children watching is not one of those times. Sorry.

i agree whole heartedly there Snuff :salute:have a beer buddy :ernae:

My take on this:

[country_accent]Football is a mans sport! I don't want none of them gays clogging up my TV with their hanky panky! *drinks beer* *belches loudly* [/country_accent]

If they're willing to pay the money, and it's not obscene, then why shouldn't they be allowed to run it?

I used to like that Wilford Brimley advert that seemed to be on every five minutes when I watched the World Series last time I was in the States - 'do you have dya-beetus'?
Is that still running over there?

Here is an archive of Superbowl ads I just stumbled across in a attempt to see what all the fuss is about and how it all compares to years gone by

http://www.devlib.org/reviews/superbowl-commercials/

The past few decades seems to have been all Beer and Junk Food.
I'm not sure I'd want my kids being influenced by that either :173go1:
