OT: The Great Escape Tunnel...

For those that remember the movie "The Great Escape". Someone on another forum just did a thread about this, and I though you all might find this interesting. Click on the numbers at this link for an explanation of how the tunnel "Harry" was built...

Ha!,.....one of my favorite books written by Paul Brickhill with the movie made from it. Starring no less than Steve McQueen,James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Donald Pleasence(one of my all time FAVORITE actors), Charles Bronson and David McCallum. The movie follows the book decently but no four stars. Make it three stars.The book is a must read if you're a WWII buff of escape adventures. This tops the list along with the book,....The Wooden Horse. Another great read. Read them both in high school during study hall. Heh-heh.
On a serious note,...during and after the Great Escape,....76 allied prisoners escaped,......73 re-captured,....and 50 shot by the Gestapo.
 
I remember seeing a documentary about some of the former POWs who were actually there. The site where the actual tunnels was found, and they went back to visit it.

Fascinating.
