Avro Vulcan 558 flew into Kent International Airport, formally RAF Manston for a weeks stay. Next Saturday, the airfield will host an airshow, at which 558 will perform, there has'nt been an airshow at Manston for 20 years and im really looking forward to the event and i'll be hopfully taking many pics to share,

I did'nt take the shots in the link unfortunatly, but pic 9 has my tower block in the background, my flats on the 11th floor, 4 down from the top, i might try and cycle out tomorrow and take some shots of 558 park'd up.
cheers ian

That is SO COOL, Ian. I've never seen XH-558, or any Vulcan for that matter up close, but I'll bet it's a real experience hearing those mighty Olympus engines, and seeing the Vulcan like that. Doing what she does best.... Showing off to the crowds at air shows. What a beauty! :medals:

BB she's a beauty really, good bunch of guys too... played Twister with them at RIAT 2011, and had a drink with them last year, it's Pilot Kev (affectionately nicknamed 'Wingover' by many) Rumens is a contact of mine... Ian you attending RIAT this year?

I got to see her yesterday over Hastings!
Had a drink and chat with the Sean Maffett and some other VTTS members afterwards.
As Matt said, Kev Rumens was flying, accompanied by the very Martin Withers DFC as co-pilot.
The most exciting display on our airshow circuit, and I would be lying if I said that I didn't shed a tear or two.
The sight and sound is just overwhelming! :salute:

yeah Kev and Martin are a great crew... can always tell which one has the controls at take-off, Saturdays at RIAT it used to be Martin result; very elegant wing over to the 45 axis, on the Sundays was Kev... he just throws that wing over just showing how fast that roll rate can be...

Video from the bomb aiming blister there at RIAT 2012... flown by Kev.... in fact at 1:58 in that vid i can actually see my tent on the Military Camp :icon_lol: well our tents... a few of us form a micro-compound/enclave (Only way to describe it) :icon_lol:

Ian you attending RIAT this year?

Blimey, is it that time of year already :jump:, sure am but only the Sunday, Wedding on Sat and a trip to Amsterdam Tues evening, seriously busy weekend, also have a ticket for the park and view west on Monday morning but not sure if im staying yet.
Thats a great clip you've link'd too, i'll keep that and stick it on my tablet to keep. all the years ive been going to RIAT, ive never seen it quit like that, had to go home early that Sunday, watch'd the display from the car park as i was about to leave, probably spot my beaten up VW Polo in the red route car park if i look closely during the final landing, the clip also reminded me of a few years back when Canberra's were still flying, one would always take off in the morning and take some high altitude pics of the show, always wanted to see those.
cheers ian

wonder how many other SoH'ers are going? likewise with me that weekend is busy for me... arrive Friday around Midday, set up phase 1 of the 'enclave' (my tent), meet up with a friend, go walk the site, dodging any taxi'ing aircraft in the process (Was stood to the left of the C-5M just prior to startup last year, under it's wing talking to it's crew), then Saturday and Sunday work and watch the Show, then Monday watch the Departures until about 1700-1800 where i'll head to dismantle my tent and RV with my folks who'll be caravanning in the Cotswolds... then a few weeks later go Property hunting in mother Greece... all joy! :icon_lol:
