Well i'm at wits end, so as the title says, i'm looking for a kind german speaking person to translate the following bits into english due to the fact my forays into german ended in total confusion! :) (full respect to people who can speak more than one langauge!!)

Hi stiz, no sweat, I am German, let´s see, whether my English is good enough to get those technical terms properly translated.

First picture:

1. starting switch
2. levers for valve battery / battery valve (whatever these levers do, they operate some valves I think)
3. mains circuit / contact breaker
4. magnets switch
5. adjust switch
6. ignition switch (4, 5 and are ignition switches = Zündschalter)
7. stop lever for idling mixture (this is only a guess, "Normalgas" isn´t exactly a common term)
8. levers for idling gas regulation
9. levers for gas at cruising level (definitely carburettor regulation, I found "Höhengas" in an article about operating an airship)
10.turn and slip indicator toggle
11.slaved gyro toggle
12.fire extinguishing valves
13.dimmer for instrument lighting - could it be a Junkers 88 ? "Leuchtrahmen" are
bakelite frames with a plexiglas covering which provides optimal lighing of the instruments
(specific Junkers-technology as far as I could find out).

1. handwheels / jogwheels for lubricant cooling (Umgehungshahn = bypass valve or something like that)
2. handwheels / jogwheels for engine bonnet adjustment (I wonder what this thing is for, maybe cooling purposes ?)

anyone know why theres 2 different altimeters?

8. altimeter 0-10000 m

10. altimeter, precision and roughly display
roughly 0 - 10000 m
precisely 0 - 1000 m

does it mean that 8 is a general one (like you'd get in any other plane, BF/ME109 for example) and 10 measures it more acurately for low level flying below 1000m and is a backup to the over one for over 1000m but with a bit of error in the readout??

This was not meant to be some kind of correction!

Your objection is correct, no. 11 is not a switch but a holder or mounting for the hand lamp.

I can help with a couple of them...(I'm just conversational German...and it's German-from-Russia slur). My technical German is mostly limited to electrical and some basic mechanical stuff.

1. Oil cooler control wheels. These open/close the oil cooler doors.
2. Engine cowl flap control wheel. Open/Close the cowl flaps for cylinder cooling.

If I remember, I'll pop back in tomorrow morning after work and see if I can dig out a few more.

Exactly, the second one was used for landing and low altitude operations to provide more precision.
