hey guys.gals..
last summer i was talking to the pilot of CalFires OV-10, "AA230" from the grass valley air attack base in northern california.i asked him how he gets in and out of the plane,as it sat there it had these "pegs" sticking out under the two cockpit areas.he said...yeah we use those and climb in and out.....so i went..uhh they stay there or whut?.....he looked at me like i was an idiot...a woman standing next to me chuckled and he said no,thats what ground crew are for,,they pull them out and stick em back in so we can git in....

then at an airshow i saw a OV-10 in (imma guess its olive drab) or green anyway?..its the one that was in air classics several years ago...and the pilot landed..taxi'd over to his parking spot..and climbed out on his own...no one came over and stuck anything in the side of the plane...so if CalFire needs ground crew to get in and out..and this guy doesnt....how did they do it in say....somewhere in vietnam?.

well for cryin out loud......i can see the panel push in things on both airplanes......so know i know he was pullin my fat leg.....id like to know what those things were he had in the side of the plane were...i see theyre not in this pic i took later....

Those are fold-out steps. The manual says they are spring loaded. So once your foot is off the step, it springs back into the fuselage .
