P-40 Crash

Oh no..... this is sad news. I believe he was supposed to be at our WWII Weekend in June.

My condolences to Bob's family and friends. He will be missed by many all over the country. God Speed Bob......

Is this same P-40 that came from the roof of a gas station in Oregon?
If so it was rebuilt at the Rock County Airport north of Beloit WI, I knew
some of the people who worked on it. I was driving by the airport one day
and drove in, it was the first flight of the P-40 after rebuild. The aircraft
came off the assembly line on Halloween eve 1941, never left the U.S.,
was sold to the gas station owner just after the war. The aircraft was
about 98% complete, when bought off the station. I remember the buyer
also owned a F-4f Wildcat but sold it later. ckissling

Someone did say itcame from a gas station in that thread. I can only assume it is the same one. But I do not know for sure.
