P-40 Warhawk panel V2

Ho capito...

Ora ho capito tutto...

14013645574_7ec14b3b50_o.jpg

capisci meglio adesso?P.S. by the way... the flight data card holders look very good... I have not added them in my personal version yet...

That little triangular section exists on some P-40K models I believe which would explain why the earlier model canopy is being shown. I don't believe it exists on aircraft earlier than the late K models. On the P-40N, that triangular section also exists, but the canopy bottom rail is shaped differently.

I believe that on any model where the asymmetrical window frame exists, the bottom triangular section is opaque.

Gius...you got a winner. Tried it out on a P-40E and it's a big improvement. One thing you should be aware of. Windows 7 is kind of funny about bmp size. It doesn't do 1024 x 768 well at all. Sometimes the screen goes black or freezes up and all you can do is reboot the game.
This happens especially with mirror.bmp. Instead, I learned a neat trick from Allen some time ago. Change the bmp to 840 x 630 and you're back in business.

See this link for a better explanation.....somewhere down around comment #7 should do....

Many Thanks!

Sorry Alpha_1, I don't know the answer for sure cause I don't have a machine running XP anymore. I only know that when I ran XP I never had a problem with the mirror.bmp and when I changed to Win7, some 3 years ago, I got freeze screens when I activated the rear view with the mirror.bmp. Removing or disabling the bmp seemed to solve my problem in the short run. I just had a rear view without the mirror.
Then, as the link to the old thread demonstrates, Allen came to the rescue with the cure. Something specific to the Win7 OS was causing a conflict. He was working on new bmps for The B-24 Guy's OH of the MS stock B-24, and I was getting the same freeze screens with his new side window and tail views. Allen discovered it was the bmp size that was giving me fits. Viola! as they say. Change the bmp size and the problem goes away.
I did the very same thing with the mirror bmp in Gius's new P-40 2d panel, yesterday. I just replaced the mirror bmp he included with another I had already re-sized to 840 x 630. Problem solved.

Thanks guys,
i'm very glad you've found it useful!!:jump::jump:
to Worthless: i have Win7 32bit, so usually i don't have simi8larar problems, but, in the case of 64bit systems you have to resize the mirror bmp to 800x600 pixels...
Bye,
Gius

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Panels Add-Ons

Description: Hello, here is my rendition of the P-40 Warhawk panel, it's for the Iris one, but, replacing the entries in the VC section in panel.cfg, you can use it for every other model. This is the first panel entirely made by me, so it's not 100% historical but,in my humble opinion, it provides equally a good reproduction of the real cockpit. It now includes a bmp mirror file resized, so Win7 64bit friendly. THere is also a new bitmap, modified according to the various suggestions i've received from Gaucho_59, Ivan, Kelticheart, Jinx and other SOH members, Thanks to all for helping to improve my product!!

Hope you enjoy it!

Giuseppe Sisinni (Gius)
