P-47D 42-23038 flew with the 3rd FS/318th FG and was used for catapult tests on board USS Manila Bay on June 23, 1944. It may have been named after the singer Sonny Boy Williamson, who wrote a song about the Thunderbolt in 1944. Repaint for the Shockwave WWII Fighters P-47D by Jan Kees Blom.
