P-51D-20 44-72547 #600 was assigned to two pilots that knew each other well, having flown combat together in P-39's with the 80th FS/8th FG in New Guinea. Major Thomas D DeJarnette shot down a 'Tony' on 10 june 1945, and Lt.Col. Harley Brown damaged a 'Frank' on 19 july.
