P-51D "My Mac/Sweet Genevieve" (Repaint)

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
Over this past weekend, after the final parts of the Warbirdsim P-51D Little Friends project were wrapped up, I thought it would be fun to make a repaint for it, using the oportunity to work out any of the last of the kinks in the paint kit.

The aircraft I chose to recreate is "My Mac/Sweet Genevieve", that flew with the 361st FG, 375th FS, piloted by Lt. Charles T. Woods. On the left side of the nose, the aircraft was named "My Mac", while the right side of the nose was painted as "Sweet Genevieve". More photos exist of this one aircraft, it seems, than the amount of photos for any other one Mustang from the war, in large part due to the fact that so many have survived from Charles Woods' personal photo collection from his service, and made available on the internet by his son.

Like the paint schemes within the Warbirdsim P-51D Little Friends product itself, the nose art, on both sides, was vector-drawn straight from a couple of original photos of the artwork, thus ensuring a very absolute degree of accuracy.

This repaint will not work on previous Warbirdsim P-51D products, due to changes and additions within the textures, to support the new features incorporated into "Little Friends".

I am uploading it to SOH now! ; )
