I have just uploaded to the SOH library a new file that contains a large update for the Warbirdsim "Twilight Tear: Then and Now" addon, as well as providing all of the needed files to support having the aircraft as a new variant if you own the "Mustang Tales" addon (either installation will provide the same results shown below).
This aircraft, owned/operated by the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum in Granite Falls, MN, is one of the select few surviving WWII combat-vet Mustangs. It was restored in the original markings it had in 1945 when assigned to Lt. Hubert "Bill" Davis of the 83rd FS, 78th FG, based at Duxford, England. Davis and this aircraft are credited with shooting down three Bf-109's in March 1945. Post-war, the aircraft served with the Swedish and Israeli Air Forces before being acquired by Bill Lear Jr. in 1960 to be used as a personal commuter. On an attempted ferry flight across the Atlantic in 1963, the aircraft, being flown by a pilot with no experience on type, was involved in a fatal crash during an attempted landing at Reykjavik, Iceland. The wreckage remained at Reykjavik until being rescued years later by Petur Jonsson and Michael Valdimarsson in 1986. Eventually being acquired by Ron Fagen, through the combined efforts of Tri-State Aviation, Odegaard Wings, Warhawks Inc. and AirCorps Aviation, the aircraft was restored to 100% WWII stock configuration with everything working, including the original wartime radio, gun camera, drop tanks, gun sight and armament systems. Following completion of restoration, and working with the ATF, real .50-cal machine guns were installed, bore-sighted and fired into a purpose-made firing range in a one-time only event (replica guns have otherwise always been installed). The aircraft won the WWII Grand Champion Award at Oshkosh 2011.
