P3 Estimated Orders?

Folks at the BOB II website have been chatting about the level of interest in P3, someone asked what the estimated number of orders anticipated

Is there a number out there, is it the last number before Pre-orders were shut down?

Just wondering, wanted to pass it on

Just curious as to why the "Folks at the BOB II website" would consider that to be a valuable bit of information? What difference does it make?

From what I've seen, there seems to be a great deal of "interest" in P3. Mostly from those who've had the pleasure of playing P2. I doubt very much that the developers would want to answer such a question with any kind of specific "number". Frankly, I wouldn't blame them. I could be wrong (and probably am....lol). I just find it to be rather an odd and "prying" query.

Cheers,

Parky

Geezer,

Since we have no real data to base any numbers on, we have no way of knowing that. I think the pre-order numbers were around 2K, but I don't know for sure. If you look at the DVD thread on our Forum, that's already over 10K, keeping in mind that was re-created after SOH crashed back in September.

So between that, and a real rough guess... I'd say 8K? BUT... if we make it into some international mags and press notes on other websites.... who knows.... 20-30K? We really have no idea.

We planned on selling this once some of the real critical issues with XP/Vista were sorted. Now that's it's a solid program and runs really well on everything we tossed at it, it's anyone's guess on how many sales we'll get.

Just pass the word we're in a Holiday Holding pattern with the Publisher. Surely this will be sorted once the champaign glasses are empty and the hang-over wears off about 05 Jan. ;)

I think they have a legitimite professional interest. They have issued updates over the last few years as free downloads. They have a limited amount of people spending many many hours continuing to improve the sim strictly on a volunteer basis. Like here an active and dedicated group of supporters. If OFF has great success on a "pay for" approach, it may make them consider other options in the future.

I pretty much restrict my simming to planes with propellers....between BOB II and OFF P2 an incredible range of accurate historical immersion. Both forum communities are respectful and insightful and really compliment the gaming experience

If one's success increases interest in the other, it's good for everyone!

We had originally guessed 500. I think it might now be 2500. Stachel thinks ten times that. As you can tell, we have no idea.

Maybe we could get a little pool going on the side here lol:friday:

I for one wish the developers all the success their endevours deserve in respect of the numbers of DVD'S sold. I haven't been waiting for as long as many of you,but I know that I haven't looked foreward to any programme more than OFF3. It's a pity that it couldn't arrive for Christmas, and it probably won't make 2008. Let's hope that Jan' 2009 brings us all a bit of good cheer.Happy New Year to one and all.

Just to put the record straight, Mr Parky, nobody is prying. A member of the BoB BDG wrote that he had read that there was a back order of 20,000 which, if it were to be converted into 10,000 actuals, at a price of $49 each, it would produce a very good return for the effort invested.

I, as also a member of the BDG, asked him where he read it as I follow this forum and had seen no such reference. If I was deemed to be "prying" as you so delicatedly put it, it was only because, with such a huge interest, I could see it taking another year before I could get my avid hands on a copy!

If I might be permitted to pry a little further, does the fact that there has been a SOH crash since I personally pre-ordered, that my pre-order is no longer valid and I will have to jump to the end of the queue?

It's safe to say, originally it was to be a low volumne 'Backyard Operation' that was reason for the pre-orders, just to find out how many sets of hands would be required to make a go of it. And estimate the time required.

Now it would seem we have a 'Holiday Snafu' with the PUBLISHER.

NUFF SAID ?????

As far as going to the back of the line is concerned, I'm surely among the first 50 on that line. But now there IS NO line to be on.:ernae:

Well I can guarantee you that its not 10K or 20K alas.
Shredward has a good grasp of the 'real situation' in his post.

5 years of solid devotion to OFF - if I wanted paid it would be a high salary but yep we started out as backyard fanatics and I am sure we will continue to be backyard fanatics.

Gimpy, yep sorry mate the line has indeed disintegrated somewhat but rest assured that we have all the e-mails in order of date if we ever need to review sending out DVDs manually.
Yes we are not enamoured with our publishers performance at the moment for obvious resions!

Borton not at all the line of received e-mails is in tact but we are hoping to have a publisher distribute the DVDs at a faaaaar better rate than us making them by hand, although to date I have not witnessed this lol - I could have sent out a 100 at least so far before Xmas!

Thanks for that, Winder .... and Shredward. I hope you end up with considerably more and good luck to you. :ernae:

A handful of decent reviews and word of mouth will be just what the doctor ordered for the developers. Here's power to your elbows lads. There's completely no justice in the world if this isn't a rock solid winner!

We really have no idea at all what the total final numbers will be. It was only a pre order email the numbers are not correct here anyway. Also they will certainly not reflect the actual sales at all, many people will not order even if they registered interest, and many more will wait until it is available and just order it normally with no pre ordering.

So the final figures could be any of those quoted.

The actual final figures will internal information anyway...

Hi all, it is great to hear that orders are better then expected and I really wish you guys
sold enough copies to quit your day jobs and start working on P4 :a1089:Seriously though, haven't your publisher gave you at least some date? Is it 5th of January? Please share it with us :kilroy:
Thank you for all your hard work and happy holidays!

I have to wait until I get moved back to Michigan to order it. As it looks like I'll be driving cross country about the time it is ready for sending. :banghead:

I would not worry too much about the game being released when you are moving. I've been on several long business trips out of town since the game was supposedly "nearing completion" (end of October and again just this month) and it hasn't been released yet. Unless you have information the rest of us don't, I wouldn't be worried. The distribution company appears to be making a career out of releasing P3. Very frustrating.

They won't tell us a date because they say they don't know. All very frustrating I know!

I am really looking forward to P3, but I almost hate coming to the site each day just to be disappointed yet again.

Guys, I think you all are taking me waaaayyy tooo seriously here.

We have no idea what sales numbers to expect, nor should anyone even ask.... or care. Or only goal right now is to link with a publisher that can handle whatever volume numbers are thrown at them, big or small.

Sometimes I forget this is a now a commercial venture, sorry. But to ask what numbers we expect is a little crazy don't you think? ... hence why I gave you a crazy answer. We didn't make charts, or talk about it. All we were concerned with was being stuck making DVD's and shipping them ourselves. We all have full-time jobs as well too, and families, and houses to fix... etc..homework to do... etc...

Until the holidays are over, we're standing in the water. Just hang in there as we've been saying for quite some time now. As soon as we know, you'll know.
