P3 came in the mail today (whohoo!), and I'm setting it up:

1. In the workshop, there is an aircraft skin detail section. The highest one says that there is no visual damage. Does this mean that if I choose the hi-res skins, I won't see bullet holes, missing wings, etc.?

2. I can't seem to access my display settings in-game, to adjust the terrain detail and such. Is this intentional? If so, where are the sliders in the P3 workshop for items such as terrain detail, etc?

3. A general cfs3 question: how do I get the view pan rate with the hatswitch to increase. I don't have trackIR yet, and I want to be able to move my head more quickly.

4. Aircraft trim: the only plane I've tried to fly is the Bristol Scout, and that thing is a beast! Constant nose down pressure, extreme torque to the left. That's probably right, but I'm wondering how the riggers dealt with that in mid-flight? Would it be realistic to use the cfs3 trim system to get something that's stable at a certain speed and engine power, and leave it at that, to simulate a pre-flight trim setting? Would ww1 ground riggers be able to find a stable flight setting? Hope this makes sense.

Hi andqui

Cool.

1. Correct, well you will see physically broken wings etc but decals (bullet holes, torn canvas decal wont work). It's a new higher res than normal and looks amazing but that's the penalty.

2. Workshop, CFS Config.

3. In the FAQ. see under 5) MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS

4. No they would not always be able to trim or set rigging to compensate for all craft bad habits. Some had quite a few, Parasol for example wanting to slide left on take off needing full stick to keep it almost level ;)
However you are your own judge do what you feel suits you?

thanks. just to clarify, ground crew did have some control over the aircraft's trim. For example, the pilot could say, "I want this a little more nose heavy", and they could adjust the neutral angle, right? I understand that trim could not be adjusted in mid-flight, but the aircraft's elevator/aileron pitch could be adjusted on the ground, right?

sorry, was going to ask this but forgot: in the workshop there are two density settings, high and normal. Am I to take it as normal is the most usual, or realistic?

Also, the same question regarding flight altitude. Which one is the most realistic, or does it depend on aircraft type or mission?

Yes *some* adjustment would have been possible, but remember fuel loads and ammo loads change over the flight, so something nose heavy may become tail heavy as the flight goes on for example. You have to think about where /when you will be in combat or maybe when landing to be at the best.. many variables.

Flight density?
Hover over it and it tells you (click somewhere on workshop screen first if it doesn't).
Normal is default (usually 3 - 5 or so)
High is er higher number :) maybe 7-10 sometimes).

Just try it and see.. more takes more cpu power etc.

It mostly depends on what you're flying, as in WWI there No Variable pitch propellors, some were terrors up to 10,000, yet dogs at height. The reverse was also true. 3000 is suicide . . you expose yourself to entirely too much ground fire, to remain healthy for long :kilroy:

sorry missed Alt.. its the avge height of your flights you can specify. Use higher as the war progresses.
