Question about the academic license...

I read the following
The Academic License contains a watermark signifying the acceptable use of the license

What is this watermark they speak of? What is that all about?

I suspect that this version would require info from a student as to his/her enrollment etc.

No, you don't need to fulfill/provide any student-related info, don't worry about that.
I got an academic licence too.

Concerning the "watermark", it's just a greyish writing in the top right of the screen, reading "Academic Licence". You notice it at first, then you never pay attention to it anymore. :)

Thanks for the info. I found some additional info and posted ^

I also believe that if you buy the $199 USD Professional version as I have and want to set up custom training scenarios you likewise, do not have to provide proof that you have a professional requirement for the product. And since the VRS products - Superbug and TacPack are not supported for professional P3D licenses I get to keep running FSX in order to use those products.
