P3D V2.5 and Addon Scenery

I have recently uninstalled P3D V2.4 and installed P3D V2.5 but before I did the uninstall I copied my Addon Scenery and Sim Objects folders to another partition. As P3D V2.5 has no Addon Scenery folder can I copy the saved folder back into the root directory of P3D V2.5 and add the scenery via the Scenery Library?

You can...or you can leave it as is, and simply re-add the sceneries you want by selecting the current (or more desireable permanent location that does not reside in the main P3D folder). LM recently made the modification on purpose to disuade devs from using the root directory to store third party addons so as to avoid them breaking during updates...

I actually just use my FSX addon scenery folder and don't have double versions of scenery...

Would you please explain more in detail how you add scenery to P3DV2.5? Or do you use scenery in a directory outside of the sim? Thanks. NC

Pete, for me I have never used the "Addon Scenery" folder in the main sim folder. I have a file tree setup on a separate drive (P3D_Custom Scenery) and inside that are the individual folders for each scenery I have. Activation is no different, just browse to wherever you have the scenery folders, select and add to the library. I also keep all my custom objects and corresponding textures in that folder as well. Makes no difference where this stuff is as long as you can browse to it from the Scenery Library.

I just made a folder on the same drive as P3D. Called it MyScenery then added it in the scenery manger.
You can put a scenery folder anywhere.....even on another drive if you like.

Just remember, all the scenery folders in the master folder need the same folder structure as FSX and P3D v2.4 and down.
ie Scenery and Textures.

For me it would look like this...MyScenery\PWAK\scenery & texture folder.

Thanks! NC

Update: well, I must be doing something wrong (as usual). I created a My Scenery folder in P3D. Then copied (for example) NAS Cecil Field scenery from my FSX Addon Scenery folder to it. Went through the process of adding NAS Cecil Field to P3D scenery library. It seemed like it accepted it ok, but when I go Cecil, the runways are there, but nothing else, except default buildings etc.... Am sure it is an elementary step I am forgetting, but not sure what. You don't even really need to go that far...I simply use my current FSX Addon scenery folder. By that I mean, I simply point the P3D add scenery to my FSX Addon Scenery folder and then whatever sub directory for specific sceneries I've already installed. Orbx might be an exception...haven't tried it with those.

Thanks! NC

Chief,

If you haven't installed the hotfix, you need to shut down P3D first and restart it. After the hotfix, that shouldn't be necessary anymore.
