Hi,

I heard rumors the the FTX packages above can work with V3, anyone here who's got it running?

I tried to install the FTX package fresh, however, the installer doesn't recognize p3d v3, which I expected.

Cheers,
Mark

Mark,

First update your FTX Central with the latest library patch. This will give it P3D v3 support.

Then, rename your whole folder of P3D to version 2, thus change the numerical at the end of the folder name to v2 instead of v3.

Install your scenery.

When installation is done, and you click "Finish", but just before FTX Central opens up, change the folder numerical back to v3.

When FTX Central opens, it will give you the option to apply the region to P3D v3.

Click apply, and enjoy P3D v3 with your new scenery.

Thanks for the advice! But after reading through the ORBX forums I'm a bit confused. Could you point me to that library patch? There's a myriad of patches. Is it the orbx library patch, maybe?

I solved the other problem I had before, which was that when I deinstalled P3D V2.5 there was a registry key still pointing at the V2.5 folder.

You probably figured this out by now Mark, the reference for upgrade is for FTX Central. It will update when asked within the program. I have looked at changing all the files detail over at the Orbx forum. Global Base would be the first thing I want to install, then Vector, then Pilot Mesh and finally the NA Landclass. I am still looking at all this. I will test out the changing of the folder names.

Tried the renaming of the folders, in fact I renamed P3d v2.5 something completely different. Renaming Prepar3D v3 to v2 didn't make any difference with the install of Global Base. It still looks for v2.5 on the drive that it is installed on. Means the registry knows it is there. Think I will wait for the installers from FTX. Couldn't be to long and then I know it is done right.

I am currently checking out FSCubed . Its running right now and will take some hrs to finish.

It comes as four installs - FSX , FSX SE, P3Dv2.., P3DV3.

You take a "snapshot" of all your scenery in it various folders throughout and links etc , and piles it up in a location of your choice. In the event of a reinstall one click of the snapshot file will reinstall all or old scenery into its original location. Reinstall with one click !!....takes a fair while to do ( overnight) if you have lots of scenery as many do , reason being its compressing it down 50%

Trick is to fire up the V3 version and use your 2.5 snapshot to reinstall.

Let you know how it goes ....:) ...had some disturbing messages though, like file name is ...something or another . See how we go , but the end of those week long reinstalls !! ..10 euros ..Not affiliated with them.

I came as far as that FTX Global and Vector was installed in V3, but then I stopped because it was past midnight. This whole thing is quite confusing if you don't know what exactly is going on and how P3D V3 differs from past versions in the file structure.

Another application which also doesn't work is FS Global Real Weather. It operates through FSUIPC but probably checks upon the P3D version.

I really hope that these installation orgies are mitigated with this new P3D version - it is supposed to be updated via the installer as of now.

--> that FSCubed sounds interesting, Greenie! Looking forward to hear how it came along!

Cheers,
Mark

Not going too good atm. I started about 9am in the morning, went out and come back at about 3.30pm to find installation had been halted by a window pop-up -"bad state ( invalid block type) -words to that effect. Hit the ok button and the process continued . Had to nurse the thing to about 8pm because of other pop-up messages - The Password did not match ,- bad state (oversubscribed dynamic bit length ), - bad state ( invalidliteral/length code ) and other similar self explanatary expressions !

All I can say is my sim is legit and fully paid up .The only thing I can think of is making up my own scenery folders by amalgamating some of the freeware into one scenery folder i.e. all the OZx Aussie stuff into one scenery folder . All the American freeware together by regions

All Orbx installed in correct fashion.

Any way about 85% into it we had a power cut ! ..suspect a fallen tree due to the winds . So starting again I find this app doesn't pick up from where it left off . It starts from the begining. ...sigh.

Getting late ,I'll have another look tommorrow . I might remove my freeware folders from 2.5 and see how we. go.

I tried A quick flight in Orbx Bunderburg Aus. Its only half there .

Besides all the woes, when I get to the bottom of this I feel this app may be real handy but unless you have ssd's it takes a fair time to do its thing.

Some screenies of the incomplete install . Sort looks like global I think .Orbx Freeware Lillydale YLIL
