After my 2 oldest sons got together and provided me the $$ to purchase P3D V3 as a birthday present. Because of the weak $A it was about $AU84. I completed the purchase and downloaded on the 16th of October.
The first thing I noticed that it was a smaller file than previous downloads. The installation seemed to be faster than P3D V2.5 and installed to the HD partition I pointed it to.
The surprises started once I ran and activated it for the first time. The Splashscreen was a notable surprise. It appeared so much sharper than the previous splashscreens when loading. Then the big bang. The scenario set up screen caught me by surprise. In the past you had to activate that via settings menu once you had entered the sim. Once I entered the sim and set my default aircraft and airport I had a bit of a look around. I am not sure whether it was the latest NVidia drivers I was using but once I set up everything through preferences screens I went flying.
Absolutely breathtaking. The scenery was so much better than it was n V2.5. Then I started adding my P3D V3 ready ORBX scenery and there is only one word to describe things. WOW!!! As usual there are some pros and cons.
Pros:
Default Scenario set up screen.
Sharper graphics which makes for better looking scenery.
Cons:
Could do with a "Settings" button on the Scenario set up screen. This to include access to the Scenery Library, Sound, Controls, General Settings as well as being able to customise things like FPS, Resolution, Scenery Density, Weather and Traffic.
Once in the Sim there is the inability to access the Menu Bar using the ALT key, eg selecting aircraft using ALT+E+V, Scenery Library ALT+W+E just to name a couple.
Will be happy to hear of any workaround for these.
