P3DV2 and ORBX

Well my new graphics card arrived this morning and I have spent much of the day sorting out what ORBX products will go straight into V2 without fiddling around. I know that Ireland and FTXAUSP4 has the triple installers. I am at the stage I am reluctant to put a copy of fsx.exe and link it to the registry.

I have already tried that and something I installed made the sim crash so I have uninstalled it and starting all over again.

Advice much appreciated. Not only that it got to nearly 100F today and is predicted for the rest of the week to get even hotter so my tolerance level becomes shorter.

Pat, after getting my new NVidia GTX 780 card I did the same thing with Prepar3D v2. Install this and that to see the results. After having all kinds of aberrations show up and pretty much trashing what was a great experience flying I uninstalled Prepar3D v2 and created a fresh install. Looking at the LM forums seems that Pilot Global 2010 has the triple installer and works fine in v2. The same guy that is producing FTX Global Vector created Pilot's Global 2010. FTX Global is also compatible with v2. That is about it for now with many on the horizon.

What I ended up with is Pilots Global 2010 followed by FTX Global (textures). That is it for now. FTX Global Vector causes some real problems in my home town area plus many other places in the world. This product is a massive undertaking and will take some time to perfect. I will be looking for any upgrades in the future.

The Redding area photo scenery you tested for me works perfectly in Prepar3D v2. Part of the Sacramento River was left out of FSX and now Prepar3D. I use the Rivers, Roads and Railroad part of Ultimate Terrain X to fix that. Anything beyond those three parts of UTX will cause problems.

That is about it to date. Now Prepar3D is a great flight experience again.

One last comment, as I posted on the FSX forums, Marianas 1945 is in the hands of the beta testers. There were very few issues so far. My partner, Roger Wilco 66 of Solomon Islands fame is one of the testers and only has Prepar3D v2 installed. Both Mark and I have found that there are two problems in v2. The inner landclass of all the airfields doesn't show up and taxiways made with Airport Design Editor don't show. The first is still a problem being worked on. The second is solved with a new version of ADE from Scruffy Duck. That is it for now.

Bill, saw something this morning on the LM Client forum that projection for the update is still by the end of the month. They have updated the update fixes to today's date 1/14. Keeping my fingers crossed.

At the moment I am playng things by ear and hoping for the best. I have set my texture resolution to 30cm and mesh resolution to 5m. Looking at dropping main resolution from 2048 back to 1024 as I am having some display problems with a couple of V2 Australian airports.

Love the shading in the cockpit though.

Incidentally with the new graphics card being the size it is I had to change the routing of some of the cables in the tower and it was so heavy I thought I was going to have to hire a crean to install it :D
