I was watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and I was wondering if Pan Am really flew An-2 Colts. I know you can't believe everything you see in movies.:kilroy:

If so, is there a paint for Piglet's An-2?

Caught that too (longtime Indiana Jones fan). Nope, Pan Am never flew the An-2. But I did like seeing it in the movie as I'm also a An-2 fan.

I still got my layered masters for piglets An2 installed, if someone wants to send me piccies of the PAA scheme i'll paint it up for you, or if you want too paint your own i'll happily send the masters out.

On the extras disc that came with the last movie it was stated that George Lucas lets Harrison Ford pick the aircraft for all the movies. Harrison is a pilot and I suppose it was done to keep Harrison happy.
So far he has done well, we have seen some rare aircraft in the movies.

That is just too cool, lol..

Remember that flying boat from the one IJ movie? Brilliant... The flying wing in the first movie though was the wildest..

I was thinking about if Juan Trippe did buy An-2s for Pan Am back in the 50s. Could you imagine the fuss raised in the anti-Communist atmosphere back then about what was America's default national airline buying Soviet aircraft! They'd have hung ol' Juan for treason.

As for the paint scheme used in the movie, it was the standard late 40s, early 50s livery of Pan American Airways.

Willy, Did Icarus make a An-2 besides Piglet? Just wondering if im missing a an2 from my hanger.

Don't know about Icarus, but there is another made by a Russian freeware designer. It's pretty systems heavy though and if you don't know the right combination of switches, etc it can be most difficult to start. So, I've pretty much stuck with Piglet's.

BTW, with the panel and sounds removed, the Piglet An-2 makes a great AI and a replacement for the Grand Caravan in the default AI flights. I've got it flying all over the world in about 20 or 30 different paint schemes. The majority of them SteveB's.

Thanks Steve. I would use the An-2 in cuba for ai, but i need to find the aerotaxi paint and the yellow/blue cuba rego paint.
