Panel night lighting effect . .

. . for a 2D panel. I know playing with the R,G,B values at the bottom of the panel.cfg will change the color etc of light falling on the entire bitmap, but not only certain sections of it like here. I also have read that some a/c have a second night panel bit map, with the light effects I guess photoshopped on it, which comes on when you hit the dome light switch. This one however just uses one common main panel bitmap. There is a switch that is for "night" with just glowing gauges and for the "dome" light which is what is pictured here. I would like to have this parabolic, downlight effect on other aircraft but not sure if this is possible/easy to do. Been experimenting porting over gauges and switches but they so far just turn on the full "main light" switch that illuminates the whole panel evenly.

I can't remember which one, but I had one that had that extra bitmap wrapped up in gauge form. (Dash-7 maybe?) Whether it's a bitmap in a popup or a bitmap in a gauge, it's still not transferrable to a different panel.

EDIT: Def. the Dash-7. There's a hotspot on the lower left that triggers it.

While it is true that the FS2002 version of the Dash 7 used this technique, it was dropped in the later FS2004 version.

The technique simply employed the original panel map, copied and lighted and the second map was called by the hotspot gauge. Both bmps resided in the panel folder.

In the case of the Saab2000 bitmap I posted, testing showed that it is a bitmap in a gauge.

Useful to know this second technique - it sure looks good on the Dash 7. Going to have to brush up my bitmap painting - i.e. copying and lighting - skills.

Thanks Gents for clarifying this.
