I did several of the Fiddler's Green paper planes with my kids. Fun.

But I am a plastic modeler when it comes to 3-D modeling.

BNut in spite of all my efforts to get model planes to look real in photographs, it still can;t compete with the realism and look of an FSX or good FS9 model screenshot!

I built several models of their free Piper Cub. With paper clip weights, they even fly decent.
 
Paper Modeling is for all practical purposes an "art". You must have a lot of practice to really make a good model, otherwise they simply look bad!!!!

Poland is the "Mecca" of paper models...take a look at the Kits--Modelik-- makes and you will be very surprised....there are many other companies like this....some of these models can easily take one or two years to complete!!!!

Just curious... are the models in the link on flikr something that was bought and someone posted on there? Or were they free? Im not trying to raise a stink, just curious...
 
I don't know about the ones on flikr, but I got the Cub for free several years ago from Fiddlersgreen. I don't remember if it was their demo model or some special promotion, but it was at the time legit free. Now, they have a link for teachers to sign up and get free airplanes. I'm going to ask my mom to get me one. :)
 
There are many free paper models on the internet. Canon (of camera and printer fame) recently added a Schneider Trophy racer to their collection of free paper models. Some vintage aircraft can be had for free from the German www.kartonmodell-forum.org (if you register as a member for free). Wish I had more spare time to build some; I've been wrestling with the Fiddlersgreen Beaver and S-38 for months now!:redface:
 
In Europe, in some of the former Russian countries, paper based high detail models were a big thing and still made today. Their precision parts are at times more detailed then plastic models over here in the West. They have interior parts, ribbing, you name it.. You look at them and cannot beleive its made of paper. Wild.....
