PS Historical note : Although home to South Downs Gliding Club, the airfield is known to have been used in part in ww2 as an emergency / forward landing ground for fighters normally based at Croydon;
to that end it was unusual in that gliding continued through ww2; the airfield was not 'closed for hostilities' as many were.
 
And the answer was: Park himself!
