After seeing shots of the Dassault Rafale on the Beeb's coverage of Libya, thought I'd see whats going for this aircraft.
Sifting through the piles of Flightsim.com archives last night, I chanced upon a nice model of the Dassault Rafale prototype by Cyril Pioffet. 'Demo RS06 solo Zip name; pat_rs06.
As the name implies this must have been some kind of beta model but I can't find any follow-ups.
Why? Because this little model is one heck of a flier. As its in the prototype livery I was wondering if any later production models/paints might be available.
If you haven't tried this little 'masterpiece' get one! (and I'll bet you're all rolling around by now just because I'm the last man on the patch to make this 'discovery'):gameon:

Yep! Gotcha!

Does this mean we get a repaint of the HAF-to-be version :greece: buddy?

The 'ouzaki' is on me! :isadizzy::ernae:

I love this French Jet, and there is a very high-end FSX version being developed, but still this old FS2002 made to work with FS9 , with many updates, still is very good ... Mike :salute:

Can a jet have sexy intakes?

Yes, if it is French...ooh la la

Cyril's model was aeons ahead of its time, and I think scared everyone else off.

Cyril was going to release a follow-on version of his Rafale with external tanks but wanted to finish his Mirage 2000 first. But FS2002 turned into FS2004 and then FSX. Sometime after FSX came out he decided it wasn't worth the trouble trying to stay compatible with the latest version of FS. So he dropped that project. And with it the Rafale with tanks was dropped as well.

There is a Rafale at Abacus but honestly save your money unless your a big fan orf carriers (it's part of a set). The pilot is the size of a small child and the single external weapons load of SCALP missiles is fixed.

Gmax Academy had a nice set for FS9 under development but the project stalled and stopped.
Quel dommage.

Bruno (aka Thor's Hammer) is working on a Rafale M for FSX. So is Roland Laborie as well with C and B models also planned. Roland's will be payware and is quite awesome.

I did some research and testing last year for Nick Black to help him with a set of AI versions for release through MAIW but he has left the hobby again so a release date is not certain. The package with scenery is still in beta the last I heard.

But the one that keeps flying is Cyril's. But do comment out the fin tip light in the aircraft.cfg file. It doesn't belong there. :salute:

This thread had reminded me that I have a couple mods for Cyril's version that folks have sent me that I need to get onto my site before the true FSX versions come out and no one cares anymore. Must do that.

I am very happy with Cyril's rendition, only thing that would make it better for me are better afterburner F/X and a nice Escadron De Chasse 1/7 Provence repaint for the Rafale C. I'm very interested in any enhancements Frank might have as well ....

Some Pix of the Black Demo ... Mike :salute:

I looked at the files I have and they are mostly AB related. Seem to be some flight model mods as well. I did some work on autoslats for it long ago. I'll hunt that down.

Thanks for the feedback Frank, I'm also a fan of Cyril's Rafale and anything that enhances it can only be a good thing. And I hadn't heard about Nick Black, that would be a real shame if he has left for good, his superb work (and that of the team at MAIW) have transformed my FS9 installation.

Was a paintkit ever released for Cyril's Rafale? It would be nice to be able to fill in some of the gaps in terms of missing units.
