Payware scenery glitch

SOH-CM-2014
Hi all. So my story it this. About two years ago I became deathly ill and had a hiatus from FS9 until recently. In that time my hard drive also went belly up necessitating I buy a new computer. Fortunately I had everything installed on a secondary drive including payware sceneries such as Fly Tampa Maarten with TNCM and TFFJ. Not wanting to start from scratch with a fresh install I sort of Frankensteined FS9 to work and live again with good success.
Now to my issue. My first visits to the above airports revealed some large black, gray or white walls across the runway ends similar to when some scenery trees fail to fill out and instead show as flat rectangles except I can't imagine what object is not displaying. I trried switching the scenery off then on again with no change. The images below show what I'm seeing. It's been many years since I got the scenery package so I doubt my purchase would be remembered so I might get a free redownload. At any rate I've tried to get on the Fly Tampa forum but it's not working and for all I know is gone.
If anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear them. Thanks.

Terrain mesh? The airport scenery is flat but the terrain under it is not, leaving perimeters where the ground doesn't line up? I know that FS9 runways like to be flat, but I recall that Joe Binka was able to recreate the three dimensional runway at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. Could it be that you have your mesh living somewhere that your FS9 isn't finding it? Or could you have some mesh not yet installed?

Well the rectangles are two dimensional as I move around them. Like I said they look like what FS does when it can't find or load a texture for some object. I'll look into the mesh possibility. And yes they do look like demo boxes but also as I said I bought the scenery many years ago and had no such problem until after I got the sim up and running about 3 months ago. All I can guess is that a scenery texture is missing but given the shape I can't imagine what it could be. Thanks for the support link MM, I'll look into it.

Demo boxes? Check your Modules folder and see if there's a module there that looks like it came with that scenery. If not, maybe there should be. If you still have the downloaded file, try re-installing it and let it put everything where it should be. When I got my current confutor up and running I went to test the plane David and I were working on (at KEDW Edwards AFB of course - where else?) I saw a big demo box sitting there next to the runway. It was there from an old payware model I was using as a static scenery model or maybe an AI plane. The module came with the paid version of whatever plane it came with. I went to my backup of my flightsim drive and sure enough, there was a module that wasn't there in my new rig. I put it in there and the demo box disappeared. BUT - my demo box looked like a box with a graphic on it - nothing like your screenshot.

Your Paywares scenery (or any other add-ons) on a secondary drive, were they installed there, or were the installation files stored there?
If you tried to get FS9 to see those installed payware files, more often than not you will get glitches.

Some scenery installs will also add stuff to the main Scenery folder within FS9, and a fresh FS9 install will have those files missing.
If you then try to add preinstalled add-ons scenery with added scenery from a secondary drive, you in all probability have missing textures (at least)
It hardly ever works well trying to add already installed add-ons on a secondary drive to the sim.
Payware add-ons must be reinstalled to work properly.

I've found that the hard way.

I said that if there isn't a module maybe there should be. I should've added that if there is such a module, maybe there shouldn't be - maybe that's what makes the boxes. If that's what they are. But they don't look much like boxes. I still suspect that it's terrain-related. Like as if the scenery was developed without terrain mesh and you have mesh. Or vise versa - maybe the developer made the scenery on a rig that has mesh that you don't have (but had in your previous rig?)

Flytampa requires that you use the installer, always, and with respect to any sim! Copying files over, [even] from a prior install, is a major no-no!

With respect to Dx10 and FSX, there is a patch: https://flytampa.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=19613&hilit=wall+maarten#p19613

Your best bet, in your situation, is to use the installer that you have on hand to re-install the scenery, and/or get in touch with George or Martin, with whatever purchase and contact information you have and/or are able to recall, and they will be only too happy to help!

Cheers!

That was my thought; knew I'd seen it somewhere
