No worries on getting a refund. I will request you delete the package permanently.

I might suggest though that in the future you might request 'what went wrong' with an installation. It might be so terribly easy to fix that it would be embarrassing that a bridge were burnt and a possible fun software addon were lost because of an uncontrolled outburst of anger. I learned this myself the hard way.

With so many versions of Windows, so many security settings, so many flight simulators and sim versions out there, getting a plane to install correctly can be daunting but easily done. Bill,
Spent 25 years in retail and I feel your pain
99% of the folks are great and wonderful to work with; it is the remainder that just make your day.....

With his level of Windows understanding, I would guess he will be getting the "All your Files are encrypted, Send us money" before too much longer. :mixedsmi:

. . . . .and while I may be wrong, I would guess Mike to be about 15 or 16 yrs old. That just sounds like someone with that maturity level.

Did you get any return e-mail from him after your reply Bill?

Here's one of my latest:

"i paid $21.95 for a download that appears to be transparent. what is up with that piece of crappy merchandise! i want my money back or a solution to fix it! i am an attorney and i will press charges if we cant come to a conclusion!!!"

He did eventually apologise, and in the end even thanked me for helping to get his plane working. As you might guess from his description, it was his setup (FSX straight-from-the-box, no SP1, SP2 or Acceleration) that was the problem.

Contractors, especially some superintendents, can be like that. One was a real piece of work. I got a call that he had our contract at the jobsite, so I went to pick it up. All he had to do was hand it to me, but instead he spent a half hour talking to someone else, then walked out to look around the site. I left. When they called again and said we could pick up the contract. I told my partner that I wasn't going back out to the site. They can mail it. He went instead.

During construction, this superintendent was the biggest pain. One time he called at 5:30 PM, screaming that our steel (rebar) was placed too high and we needed to get ironworkers back out there immediately! Our foreman went out and found that the contractor had excavated the footings wrong.

We told their estimator to double our price on any project they were going to use this superintendent in the future. Instead, they shipped him to another state :)

There are probably very few, truely silly people in the world, but their very silliness makes it seem that they dominate.

Completely agree. The vast, vast majority of Flight Replicas users are some of the nicest people I've ever encountered online.

ive been a complete idiot at times in my life...but ofcourse it was allways someone elses fault.......no?...ok....

i have a construction stupidity story....as plumbers ( my family) dad and i would go out and be on site when the contractor was there laying out the house for the foundations to be dug ect...and then when the footing forms were built..dad liked to double check...yes we were busy..but we were "quality " plumbers..not qauntity..we didnt do "tract housing" only custom homes and service work, and some light commercail..well this one house..we were there for the layoout and formup..they poured the footings, poured.and then built the stem walls and had the sub-floor down and it was our turn to rough in the plumbing...we did so,using our measurements off the northeast corner of the house as was the "custom" here..laid it out,,plumbed it,was ready for them to lay the floor, put up the walls and sheet the roof..this took a couple months and we hadnt heard a word from the carpinters or contractor...then get a call to come topout...we show up and our main "vent" system piping is in the middle of the hallwayand the family room bathroom toilet pipe is under a wall...at this point the carpinter is being a complete..jacka......well you know..and he is telling my dad what a jerk my dad is and what a bad plumber we are...so dad being dad...throws the guy off the deck first...then tells the contractor to get his long tape..and we proceed to measure everything.....when they laided it out...they flipped one whole footing,,12 inches off...and then they framed the house with 2x6 and it was supposed to be 2x4 intierier walls...so ofcourse NOTHING lined up as it was on the plans.....it worked for the carpinter, because they were his measurments....but everyone else was off and he blamed us (well my dad)the home owner, got a lawyer, and long story short....the carpinter lost his business over this, the building as it stood was torn down, concrete footings dug up,and everything was started from scratch at the carpinters expence....bottomline....arrogance gets you nowhere

Now to completely derail the thread...

My brother was a drywall subcontractor. We both were working on a bank's main office with a vault for regional money. Again, the contractor was a real pain. A couple of our ironworkers almost punched him out. The contractor kept calling my brother to do the drywall and every time my brother would find that the building wasn't ready. Duct work and electrical weren't finished. The door frames weren't in. Finally, my brother got sick of it and got all his guys out on a Sunday. Ready or not, they turned the place white, putting up all the drywall.

On Monday, the contractor was not a happy camper. My brother just told him "you said you were ready".

To be fair, these kind of customer messages are the absolute minority.
The vast majority of users is understanding and great to work with, at least from my experience.

Hilarious, lol...

I do find myself being a teacher to alot of people. Some just dont realise that there were updates out for FS, that sometimes the installer cant find the FS folder, etc. I have been there myself, so Im not going to complain. When they rant and freak out though is when I take a step back and wonder. One has to take a deep breath and just smile and let that person choose a direction; burn their own bridge, or act like a sane person and get it working and have some virtual flight fun.

The customer is probably having an issue with the flight1 installer w/ Themida protection, which sets off most antivirus software so the download fails and throws a virus warning
and in some cases like mine (eset) the firewall won't even let let the installer download and finish even with the anti-virus off.

Before I download and install a flight1 wrapper (installer) I have to disable the anti-virus aswell as the firewall.

I've always believed it is often best to keep the developers away from the customers and sometimes their comments. While there is no absolute way to do this, it helps customer relations when you have someone handling the PR side of things who is not directly involved with the development. Even though I don't particularly work on the planes themselves and rather help market them, I find myself getting easily offended by some of the crazy things customers can say. I just keep in mind they are frustrated because they have spent money and do not have something that works for them in return. In the end, this is why I try not to handle any customers directly, even on my YouTube page comments. I'm the worst kind of PR in the world and get frustrated with people easily.

Hey Cody,

Roger that. I was in sales for a while. Loved it, and loved working with people. Where I worked, the customer was always right, and that brings them back for more, and that is a key to success. Your customers are everything. Without them, you sink. Being nice to them is part of customer service. Plus, for me, I am the only one that knows all the details of the planes, so I am about the only one that can help with most of the situations.

DX, that has just happened again. It seems that AVG and other AV companies forget about the installer codes and wrappers. arrgh... Flight1 on one of my pages now appears as a virus because of that.

Just another manic monday, I think the song is called..

I have to giggle whenever I read such a blatantly specious claim about being an "attorney." If the lack of capitalization didn't give a sufficient clue, the "press charges" certainly does! :wavey:
