PC Mag.... Will My Device Work with Windows 7?

If your computer is working fine why fix what aint broke? I only switched to XP when it had been out a few years and there were several programs I wanted to run that wouldn't run on 98SE. Yall go right on ahead with Win7. My comp might be old, but it's stable and does what I want it to do.

Newer aint necessarily better!

I have decided to stay with XP. Have been with it since 2002 and I am sick and tired of the continuous changes. I like XP, I know XP, I can handle XP. And I don't plan to buy another computer, this one I have does everything I want it to do.:friday:

Kofs, send me your bank account or credit card info and social security #. Then I might build another puter. Right now it's not gonna happen, tho I do have a new graphics card.

This thing is 4 years old and still keeps on tickin. It ain't broke yet so I gotta live with it.... and the Warden. If you catch my drift. Besides... the GTO comes first this year. ;) It's that time of the season. :d

GT, my Dell XPS Gen 2, which is 2004 vintage, works perfectly well for me. I upgraded the RAM and the video card in it about a year ago and have been very happy with it. I'll leave it for the younger uns to get caught up in the upgrading business.

It seems like the editing gremlin is at it again.....

I am still playing with Windows7 as my main OS. I really think MS has a winner this time. There is still a few bugs in it but as far as Vista is concerned W7 you can't even compare. Window7 is very user friendly and has loads of features in the OS. So far just about all my programs work with Windows7.The 280 video card I am using I have been having problems with. I ordered a 295 card from Newegg and the first one came in DOA, so I am still in limbo trying to figure out what is going on. Once I get this other card I will know a tad bit more...Mike

What I'd like to know Moe is if the older sims will work in Win7. Will they include "Compatability Mode" like before?

B-17 Flying Fortress "The Mighty 8th", MOH & COD series from the beginning, CFS 2, IL2. Stuff like that and older software too.. Or will DRMs screw the pooch on the older stuff we all have?

It seems they always sidestep the real questions that need answering the most.

More info on Windows 7.

One thing that's not good for some of us.... The older Graphics cards from the 7000 series down won't work in W7. They say the 8000 series and up will.

They are WRONG

I am running Windows 7 Beta

Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
Ram 2 GB
Nvidia 6600 w/ 256 mb ram

Using most current drives from Windows Update

FS9 working fine FSX not installed or tested in Windows 7 by me. I do not want to activate it for the short time W7 will be active. It shuts off August 9th for me. Then I will have to go back to XP.

I will write a review on it at some time but on the whole it is working correctly.

Ahhhh, but remember Dave..... you are running a beta version, and who's to say it will stay the same as it is now.

And from my beta experience, testers do not get the whole shebang as it will be in finished form. So with that they could be right. Just my

That could be very true but since it does work so I would expect someone would come up with a fix or hack that could make this older hardware work. I can't speak for the other stuff.

I definatly would not suggest that anyone running an older PC with a solid Windows XP install move to W7.

I am having no problems with it on the surface but I don't see any benefit to make the move. so far I can say that when I build the new system it will be a good choice.

It is an extension of Vista or what Vista should have been. I am not seeing it as the Resource HOG I know Vista to be on my wifes laptop.

Honestly I thought the Video Drivers would be the biggest downfall to the OS figuring the old 6600 would not be supported but it has not been bad.
