pCARS Alpha Build 197

With this we get the basic NASCAR.
Actually, around Road America and Bathurst they are quite quite entertaining to drive, but I keep lobbying for some proper Touring Cars, maybe V8 Supercars or one the European/UK series.
I just don't like the present day DTM.
Driving one of these things requires muscles like Popeye .........:icon_eek:
Just a tad clumsy on the California Highway drive, they were never meant to negotiate hairpins.

Reading about this car finally won me over :

But this one's fun too:

Slightly too far over the white line:

With predictable results:

Had a lot of fun in a mixed class race in this car:

First impressions are good! Nice feel right out of the bo... well, download. Still need to tweak the AA a bit. For an Alpha game this is pretty good already! :applause:

I tried a race on Laguna Seca with random opponents, and it was real mayhem (Not in the least caused by me!) with various F1 cars, touring cars and even a go-kart on the track.. Parts flying everywhere!
:applause:

Now to figure out how to start from the grid and not the pitbox..

Under the 'Race' menu you can choose your grid position and your opponents etc.
I usually set up a 5 lap 'race' with no opponents when I'm wanting to get some serious practice in as well being able to view a full length replay.
:kilroy:
As for the freaking Karts ........ it is a known bug but it seems to be a fair way down the 'things to fix list', not too many people caring about Karts apparently.

Toned down the AI somewhat, and I actually had an enjoyable and fair race this time at Brno! :

Found the settings for the race, it's much more fun to start on the grid!

Replays are nice, but I experience a big framerate drop in the DX11 mode, haven't tried it in Dx9 yet.

Try DX9, I get really good rates and as you can see by the screenies the quality is good as well.
So Ferry, which level are you at, the basic 'Junior' is as good a way as any to kick off with but it's worth stepping up further if you think the weekly builds [+extras] will make you a true believer.
:icon_lol:

Had a bit of fun chasing this 'pirault' in my Radical V8..

Until I hit a bump, followed by a brick wall.....:

Obviously I only did this to show the damage model.... :

For those who don't know: It's a British BAC Mono, powered by a 2.3 liter Cosworth with 280 bhp, it only weighs 540 kilos (1190 pounds) and yes, it is road legal!

These <strike>games</strike> highly detailed racing simulators are too rich for me, but keep those screens coming, they are spectacular!

I started at that level and after a few weeks decided to go 'Senior'.
Well worth it IMHO, but I might step up another notch sooner rather than later.
:kilroy:

Well, sim time is limited to one or two evenings a week at the moment, so I'm happy at the current level.

Whew I wish my flightsim models looked like that...

Co-incidentally, yesterday I was pootling down a local country road minding my own business, when a rollbar appeared in the rearview mirror.
One minute the road was clear, the next, there it was.
Just for a moment, while oncoming traffic cleared.
Then accelerated by, shockingly quick.
Just time to register: Ariel Atom.
I guess you get a sense of it in the driving sims, but you wouldn't get how visceral it is...

Might want to mention to the folks who are doing the NASCAR mod, that the "3" on Dale Sr car is leaning the wrong way.;)
