Pearl Harbor Scenery Help

Hi All,

Been playing with some new scenery and installed the PHP scenery, PHP ships and the mission that comes with the download. The problem is I get black around Bellows where the grass/dirt should be and EWA comes up as Untitled Scenery wirh the black also. I tried deleting everything and re-installing but the same thing happens. Hopefully, I followed the installation instructions properly.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Bub

Hi,
Which Pearl Harbour download do you mean. And where can you get it.
Is it Martin Wrights or the Just Flight addon.

Buddha,

Its the Pearl Harbor Project v. 1.0. The zips are, php.zip and phpships.zip.
I found them on Flightsim.

I had them downloaded for some time and finally got around to installing them. Everything else seems to be fine, except for the problems I mentioned. The mission works and all the other scenery seems to be working.

Thanks,
Bub

The Bellows bgl calls for a stock texture named "002B2SU1.BMP" which was omitted from the download because its already in the sim. However, the install can't find it because its in the scenedb\world\texture folder. Copy the bmp from the scenedb location to the texture folder of the PHP install.

As for the Ewa location, its named as "Untitled Scenery" inside the bgl. That's what the sim reads and shows in the airfield list, not the actual bgl filename. It reads the internal base names from within the bgls. If you know how to hex a file you can change the internal name to Ewa with a hex editor.

Bearcat,

The 002b2su1.bmp fixed the problem around Bellows and also around "Ewa". Now it says I need runway2a_mat_sq.... I found the file as a .dp, but not as a texture file.

I don't know how to hex the name, so I'm stuck on that one.

Thanks for your help,
Bub

Runway2a_mat_sq is a bgl item bundled within the stock RUNWAYS.BGL, located in the SCENEDB\inf\scenery folder. Its a stock item that loads steel mat runways. Runways.bgl contains all of CFS2 runway types and each one has a dp and a texture, located in the SCENEDB\inf\texture folder. If you're getting this that means either your runways.bgl is corrupted or you need to delete the filelist.dats and let them rebuild on reloading the sim.

Ok,

Tried that and this other fix I found:

Copy the file "runways.bgl" that you will find in CFS2\SCENEDB\runways\scenery\ and paste it in to CFS2SCENEDB\inf\scenery\
Then copy the runway texture files from SCENEDB\runway\texture and paste them in SCENEDB\inf\texture as well.

Still no luck. I even put a fresh runways.bgl in and still no luck. I also deleted all the filelist.dat's I could find. All the other runways in the pack work fine and all the other scenerys seem to be working fine.

I'm sure there's a solution out there. I just can't seem to put my finger on it, yet.

Thanks again for all your help and future suggestions.

Nope. On this one it 98SE. I haven't finished tranfering all the files to the new one that has XP Pro. So, until then this is it. I figure if it works on this one it'll work on the new one. Get the bugs out now and I won't have to fool with them later. Hopefully a painless transition. :faint:

Bub, put the entire texture set for all runways into the main TEXTURE folder and put the runways.bgl into the main SCENERY folder.

Crashaz,

I realize you have 2.0 in the works. I just figured I'd use 1.0 in the old system until the new one came out.

Any suggestions on how to fix these problems with 1.0?

Thanks,
Bub

The php.zip is the scenery... really not going to work with the newer stuff... plus the older stuff is reallly ooooold. I was using a giant polygon back in those days for Ford Island.

Maybe I can give ya a call to help ya out this weekend? We might get the ships in with the right GSL edit. Drop me an email or PM and we can discuss later.

wow, i have really looked forward to this scenery too, i am gathering resources for a full CFS2 install with all the scenery and planes i can find, i really am interested in the Pacific Theatre and have been working to gather things for months now. Thanks for all this info. I will try and see if i get the same errors :) much appreciated.

Bearcat,

Tried the last suggestion to no avail. No big deal. I'll leave things as they are for now and wait for 2.0 to be available.

Thanks to all for their help and suggestions. However, if you do come up with something, let me know.

Thanks again,
Bub

My extreme fix when all else fails: delete all six index files in the main directory, boot the sim, let the library DB rebuild and reinstall all addon scenery again. Make a backup of your scenery.cfg first. You'll need it in the reinstall stage.
