The last couple of years I've been in NJ at this time of year until mid December.This year I decided to be home for Thanksgiving and got home last tuesday.On wednseday I'm headed to Oahu so I can go to Pearl Harbor on December 7.I've been there before 3 times on that date and have met some of the veterans of the attack.I don't know how many are left ( most would be in their 80's or 90's now ) but it would be great to see some again and talk to them.

The last time I was there on the Memorial, I looked up the East Loch and saw four DDs heading out to the channel. They seemed unfamiliar and as they closed and turned south towards Hospital Point, I saw that they were a task force of Japanese Defence Force frigates. All the sailors were at the rails in dress whites and at attention as they sailed out to the Pacific.

It was a strange sight and one I'll never forget.
