Pen32Win Airfields

Hello all!
I´ve been playing around with Pen32Win´s Wewak airfields in Mission Builder and get an error message (actually lots of times the same message) when I add the "fully loaded" layout - see screenshot.

After I click the messages away, the layout loads fine. I suspect I´m missing an aircraft, because some dispersal areas on the fields remain empty, except for some stacked crates - see screenie 2 for a view of the empty dispersals at Wewak-Wirui.

Any ideas which aircraft I need, or is that a different problem??

Thanks in advance!

Hi Skylane

You can open the layout file with the notepad ,you will find the list of all the objects needed

Pen does wonderful work, we have some really good add on makers in the community and it is such a generous gift they all give us.... the CFS2 world is constantly imrpoving. :)

Yes, all these great add-ons make cfs2 the wonderful sim it is!

Bythe way, back when Pen32Win publlished the Wewak and Port Moresby sceneries there was talk of more to come, I think I remember something about Cape Gloucester and Hollandia?
I´ve been away for some time, so I might have missed something; did he upload anything else or did he discontinue these projects?

Hi Rami,
No they aren't. They are close but some of them sit a little out in the water.

This is a good time for me to make a request I have been meaning to do for a while.

Pen - could you possibly update your bases to support Rhumba's updated coastlines & mesh? Please, pretty please, pretty please with sugar on top.

What about doing what Maskrider/Jean Bomber did instead? Create a new set of shorelines just in the area around the bases?

PTO coastlines strategy

Hi all

If I have to do some new coastlines for the PTO to fit
with the rhumba's masks and meshes the starting point
would be to use the same srtm sources .
He has used the CGIAR SRTM-based v4 DEMs
The area to select the files needed is here:

http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/SELECTION/inputCoord.asp

and to get the geotiff zip here:

ftp://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/SRTM_v41/SRTM_Data_GeoTIFF/

once you have download the Geotiff you want ,for
example srtm_66_14.zip ( PNG ,Port Moresby area etc..)
get the Microdem program it's a freeware

http://www.usna.edu/Users/oceano/pguth/website/microdem/microdemdown.htm

Unzip the srtm_66_14 zip in a folder you will find:
srtm_66_14.tif
srtm_66_14.hdr
srtm_66_14.tfw
the .tif will be the background image that could be use in G2K
the .hdr will give the accurate coords to place the bmp in g2k

with Microdem open the tif File/Open/OpenDEM :
as te tiff is open check "1" no zoom in the image toolbar
"image requier etc.." check "yes" draw map will charge .....
you can now save it as bmp or jpg ,File/save image , choose in the dialog box the folder where you will put this image .
you will have a nice SRTM_66_14.bmp (first picture) as I've called is sized 6001x6015 and the hdr gives the coords
Corner Coordinates:
Upper Left (144.9995839,-4.9995829)
Lower Left (144.9995839,-10.0004162)
Upper Right (150.0004173,-4.9995829)
Lower Right (150.0004173,-10.0004162)
Center (147.5000006,-7.4999995)
We have now all the elements to start a g2k project to draw coastlines and make Land and water masks that could overwrite the Rhumba's mask for this part of the world
Also with xnview you can directly open the tiff and save as a 6001x6001 bmp or jpg that will give a grey black image that could be used with the SDC's autocoast tool.
you can resizing as 6001x6015 the second pics and using ,mixing the both as layers with psp and make with them a new bmp for g2k.
Now that's it's just a question of time .....for who want start the project
