Penalty on Dixon was a 'mistake' say officials

I don' t really follow Indycars, but we do have a "Local Boy" in there.
Does this sort of thing happen often??

And what's the effect on the team if they slip a few places?

Don't really follow Indycar anymore. So really don't know. Haven't been interested since the days of CART back in the 1990's.

Definitely a mistake but what I find to be intriguing is that IndyCar admitted the mistake.
How many other forms of racing governing/sanctioning bodies actually admit to making a mistake :ques:

But then I must still give Indycar "kudos" for admitting to a mistake.
The only other option for them would've been to be just like the other racing series and never admit fault amongst themselves....

NASCAR has admitted to several mistakes over the years. Google it.
