Almost have this one ready for you fellows. I am trying to find the maps for the antenna posts and cannot figure them out. the tail post is yellow, so it has to be mapped to one of my paints! The wings posts are black and most of the background is black, so it is possible they are lost there?

All new paints from the start, new and correct detail lines and rivet locations, new wheel hubs and tires, fresh paint using HEX codes for the period paint, fuselage light gray, vertical and horizontal tails light gray, elevators doped Aluminum, Orange-Yellow top wings, Lemon Yellow chevron and fuselage band and cowl with black stripes. Corrected red-yellow-blue propeller tips, highly polished prop save tips. New propwash, gradients, anf alpha channels for all textures. OBIO's sound package with sound config for one engine. Thanks Tim.

It just makes me feel good to do something like this for a sim model that started out for FS2002. Screen captures with great pride in Bill Lyon's Golden Wings 3. :medals:

This paints represents the F3F-2 found and restored and now in the Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola.

Very nice Cazzie. I think I had this one installed at one time. It looked....phoney (excuse the terminology) so I deleted it.

I will surely get this one when you're finished :applause:

Is this for the Aeroplane Heaven F3F? I've still got that one installed.

Yep, that is the AH F3F. Looks much nicer now that it is not "chrome" plated with a ton of reflection. And I see a new prop wash as well.

FOr those needing a good sound pack for this plane, Lawdog's Dauntless sound pack is the one to grab.....it represents the Wright R-1829 Cyclone 9-cylinder radial. Or, if you want the canopy sounds, just alias this plane to the sound pack I did for the AH Skyrockets...it is based on Lawdog's Dauntless sound pack and I added the canopy open and close goodies. Don't worry about it being a two engine sound pack...the sim knows enough to use only the coding for the first engine.

Since I was up and awake, I went ahead and did a sound config file for a single engine application of the XF5F sound pack. SImply make a copy of the sound pack, drop the attached sound config file (after removing the .txt from the end) into the folder and allow it to over write the original.....and there you have it...a dedicated Grumman F3F sound pack.

Cazzie,....with this new paint job and OBIO's revised sound package...the F3F is now becoming something special. I was wondering though,...do you plan on redoing any of the original AH textures that came with the aircraft?

I sure do Brad.

I want to get my new wing textures done first, so that I will have all my base layers and detail layers.

I already have the upper wing chevron saved as separate layers, so moving them is no problem. I want to nudge each inward to make a correct "V", AH's doesn't do that as they have done them. Again, I want a base wing layer and details first.
