Photoreal scenery issue, help needed

l'iguane

SOH-CM-2024
Hello,

I had for a long time many scenery from blueskysceneries / G Razek, especially all the coastline of california.

I did one folder, where I put all california sceneries from bluesky (as recommanded on his website)
As the airfields are depicted in photoreal (and in low resolution for the small airfields) I wanted to create an AFCAD (at least a runway) using AFCAD V2.21 for Q99 (icao code) then I dropped it in Addon scenery/scenery.

My problem is : the AFCAD (runway+taxiway) should show itself (it doesnt) when I load a flight at the location, but only the photoreal scenery is displayed...

I tried other third parties sceneries on bluesky photoreal set up and some are showing the taxiway/runway and some NOT. all the buildings/ground object are showing in all cases.

Would someone have an idea how to fix it ?

I don't fully understand how all of this works, but I've sometimes found similar problems. It seems that some scenery modelers use software that includes all the information that is contained in a AFCAD file directly in one of the scenery bgl files. When they do that, if you add a regular AFCAD file, it won't seem to work - the AFCAD's features won't show up in the sim.

In one case I was able to open the scenery bgl using bgl2xml (
http://www.scruffyduck.org/bgl2xml/4584282773) and delete all the AFCAD information from it. Then I made a regular AFCAD and it worked normally. I don't know if this is a universal solution for such issues because I've only done it once, but you might give it a try.

A scenery probably has more than one bgl file, so you'll have to open each of them until you find the one with the AFCAD-type information in it. You'll know it when you see it. I've been advised that one should always edit scenery xml files in Notepad rather than Wordpad to preserve the syntax.

After editing, recompile the bgl with BGLcomp (from the FS2004 SDK.)
