Photos from Quonset Point

very nice.i enjoy seeing them each year out here as well,i liked the one photo title of "target acquired"....she know ya put that there?...lol
 
Very nice set. Seeing these planes in person makes one appreciate what the people did in these planes during WWII to secure our freedoms even more.
Got to see the tour when it was in Plymouth - great group of people to spend time with!

Just curious to know if the Skyraider was there??

Yeah, I told her after the fact that I'd taken the picture, and she liked it.

Plymouth was actually where I'd seen these guys quite a few times before - lived up that way until the last couple of years. The Skyraider was there for a few minutes when I arrived, but was then towed back to the Quonset museum area. I was lucky enough to see the Spad fly at the Quonset air show last year. I'll dig around later on/tomorrow, and see if I can find my pictures from that.

The one thing I took away from my "inspection" at the San Jose Jetport a couple of years back was how SMALL those bombers were. A 737 dwarfs them, and it is difficult moving around inside - shoulders seemed to bang into something every time I turned around. Not near as many people at SJ as it appears in your pictures, so I did not have to rush my tour. I think at the time the P-51 ride was "only" $2K...

In the 1980s, I got to tour inside the TEXAS RAIDER B-17 at Barksdale AFB, and came away with the same impression of how every inch of space had a purpose. It was a very narrow squeeze in and out of the areas,
but the nose station truly had a great view laid out in front of the aircraft. I also got to tour the front office of a B-52, and there again, every open area had a purpose.
