The pilot of the F111 in this short video,Col Dean Salmeier, was the uncle of my mothers cousin Doug's wife Donna.im busy now looking him up,and this is what i foound after about 5 minutes, found a refrence to him in a book about the F111 as well.

as a side, cousin doug was telling a story at dinner tonight,he was talking years ago to my two uncles,Jack and Cleve Crusinberry,he was bragging about his wifes uncle, and the F111,and was talking about a small black box that is in the F111,he says it is the ground avoidance system.( i have no clue as my uncles never told me squat),as he was talking about it..he notice jack and cleve looking at eachother and grinning, finally doug asked...whats the joke?..and together they said..."well we designed that system".they both designed and implemented many air force items..for aircraft and for on the ground..the ONE thing my uncle cleve told me just before he passed away was that he had designed a system just at the end of WWII that allowed airplanes to land in fog and other inclement weather...i was stunned and said you mean something like the ILS systems?..he said yes, that was my baby in those days..to this day all i can say is OMG....he may not have been THE man but he was most deffinantly on the team and a big part of it.

years ago,he had told my dad of a secret plane that was so fast even the airforce didnt know how fast it was,,he was working at the end of the runway at Edwards ( i never knew he was ever at edwards until just a few years ago..and get this..Bud Anderson knew him!!..wow)when this "thing" took off, uncle cleve said that a few hours later ( i dont know the actual time) the plane came back in and landed..and there was alot of celebrating..so later that night,he asked someone about the commotion after the plane landed..and he was told it had just made a world record speed thing,it was the SR-71 which flew to new york and back...well my dad ,who didnt like either of my moms brothers anyway..never believed his story..then one day years later..dad was telling the story..and how it was the SR-71,he was at a party, and this man said..well i was the pilot on that flight..dad was stunned..he turned out to be the uncle of a local funeral home owner our family was friends with....

almost forgot the video..lol
