I use the sound pack from the C172 for my Apache. I have no idea how close it is to the real thing, can't say that I have ever heard an Apache running....don't think I have ever actually seen an Apache in real life. There is a package out by Aaron Swindle that improves the sound of the stock 172 by a nice margin. I think it can be found on Flightsim.com. It is one of his free packages, and I really like that improvements (he also has a similar package for the C182 that is just as good).

While it is "better" to have a sound config file specifically set up for a twin engine application, using the stock single engine sound config file will work...and really, I have tested it both ways and really notice just a slight difference between using a single and twin engine config file.
Give me a few minutes and I will whip up a twin engine config file based on the stock C172 sound pack...that way you will have a true duel engine set up for your Apache.

Simply make a copy of the stock C172 sound pack and place it where ever you keep your sound packs. Then download the attached "Twin opposed 4 cylinder Sound.cfg.txt" file and save it to your computer. Remame it to Sound.cfg. Then drop this new sound.cfg file into your duplicate C-172 sound folder. And there you have it, a twin opposed 4-cylinder sound pack.

Had a go at making the TSS C172 sounds into a twin set (Turbine Sound Studios). Used on the ol' Apache. I think I like it. Just have to de-tune the aircraft. Displays too much power. Everything I read states that it was a twin with single engine performance. Not a really exciting ride, but very well mannered.
Aaron Swindle did two packs for the stock C172. The newer one adds beefiness to the stock package, while the older one make the pack sound less powerful...which was probably not his intent...but it works great for making a sound pack for less powerful opposed 4-cylinder engines like in the Cessna 140 and 150 (two of the planes that I use that package for). I found the older package on FSDome I do believe. The package name is: new172sn.zip
