• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Planet Earth involved in "near miss"

Holy crap Marie. I thought they were supposed to be able to spot them way out there before they got that close. Somebody was sleepin on the job.

Something that "small" though I don't know if they could spot it... I guess the good news would be if it were to have hit it wouldn't have been a global killer...:icon_eek:

they are not able to spot the great majority of asteroids out there . i think it is estimated that they can only , so far , spot less than 20% of the ones that get really close , and even most of these are discovered after their passage near earth .

Probably not to much to worry about...was probably only traveling about a million mph.

And as pointed out by Odie we could always call Bruce Willis to save the planet again.

Yeah someone let Bruce know he is the guy again.
Want to make sure there is no confusion about taking turns and leaving Ben Affleck to do the job.
