Please Help Me Get Rid Of The Jaggies !!!

I consider myself an FS "Old Hand" and very knowledgeable when it comes to PC's and graphics settings.

Here is the problem, I can't seem to get rid of the jaggies on a hand-me-down Gateway desktop PC that my Father gave me.

I run FS9 at the proper screen resolution, 1280 by 1024, have anti-aliasing turned off - both within the sim and the NVIDIA control panel. Trilinear filtering is enabled. And I have all of the proper driver updates for my NVIDIA GeForce2 MX400 card.

The graphics settings I use work perfectly on my 2 other PC's and I have crisp clear images when looking at aircraft in the exterior view, even on the old Windows ME powered rig.

This Windows XP runs FS9 flawlessly except for the jaggies. Any Ideas?

Including some screenshots to show you what I mean.

Use the FS9 AA Mike, I have an nVidia card and nHancer, but still find they do not get rid of the jaggies. Once I check AA in the sim, the jaggies are gone.

A recommendation too, monitors are dirt cheap these days, get a 20-in or higher wide-screen with a native resolution of 1600 width or higher. The higher the screen resolution, the smaller the jaggies.

Thanks Caz, I'll try that. I assume you mean AA checked in the sim, but not on the NVIDIA control panel.

Also, I just installed the latest version of Direct X which was not updated yet. I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

Thanks again, Mike :wavey:

Although using the in-game Anti-Aliasing may give you a frame rate hit, it often works better than just having the video card perform all of the AA.

To get AA on some nvidia cards, you have to enable it from within FS9. But, the default AA in FS9 is 4x, which can dramatically reduce the fps on weaker machines. If you run in higher res, all you need is 2x. Here's how to get it:

- first install nHancer
- delete all the default profiles within nHancer (it won't let you, so you'll need to manually do it:)
- first exit out of nHancer, then find the file nvwsApps.xml under Windows/System32 and just remove all the profiles, and save it (make a backup first tho)
- now launch and create a new profile within nHancer for FS9 (find the FS9.exe).
- Set the AA to whatever you want (it'll overwrite FS9's). And set whatever else setting you want.
- Now enable AA within FS9
- For some cards, the AA won't work in Windows mode. You'll have to alt-enter into full-screen

yup, a lot of steps, but it's the only way. Some nVidia cards just don't like FS9...
