Very interesting Cody! I flew that plane, N747BC last week PAE-CHS. Can't really say too much about it except it's still a 747. Boeing won't even let us take photos of it......

I didn't do the walk around, so didn't notice if the winglets had been removed.

I got an opportunity to talk to one of the engineers of that plane back in November (I think it was) of 2007 at FANCON in Seattle. He seemed very amused that there were many internet references to it as the Oscer Meyer plane. He also talked very interestingly about the sideloading and engine out testing that they performed in South America. Had some GREAT footage of the plane taking off where in some scenarios it would completely come off the runway before the pilot was able to retain control, get back to centerline and then takeoff.

The man also spoke with authority about the fluttering and oscillation issues they first had with the aircraft, and how they worked them out.

Plane holds a special place for me.
