• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Port Forwarding

I am tring to forward the ports needed to use the FSHost Server to fly some hops. I am asking here rather than the Flight Center because I'd like to get an answer sooner than later. I have a Netgear R6220 Router. I have gone through the process of setting up the ports to be forwarded, everything seems to be correct based on the owners manual but when I run a Port Tester the various ports simply time out. Anyone else have this type router that can lend a suggestion or two?
 
Make sure FSHost and Flight Simulator are not running on the PC when you are running port checker.

I am on the road tomorrow and Thursday. If you don't figure it out we can look at it Friday.

Thank you Sue. I did set up the static port as explained and made that change to the ports I'm trying to forward, however the results are still the same, the portchecker times out on each port. I have a feeling something is blocking the process but I haven't figured out what yet.

Is the netgear router hooked up to your internet provider router? If so the other router might be blocking the ports you are trying or the firewall might prevent it also.

I have a cable modem and the Netgear Router. I wouldn't even bother with a router were it not for all the "Smart" devices (two TV's, an Apple watch and an iPhone).
 
That's most likely where your problem is then., since your cable "modem" is actually a router.
You could just configure one of the cable modems ports to be the DMZ and see if connecting the Netgear through that works.
If not, you could try connecting the computer directly to it.
