Angry about enemy-planes fly whith more power than player-plane and get no chance for goals
in some missions, can I reduce speed or agility in CFG or otherwhere :ques:
Gameplay is allready set to "few".

Hello Skybolt66,
Let go of your anger it is not good for you.

You can increase the power of your own plane by by adding or editing the aircraft.cfg

I should add , the developers took pains to model aircraft performance as accurately as reason allows.

For the Pacific Theatre, it is the case that, at the begining of the conflict Japanese planes were faster and easier to turn. The american planes were heavy but could take more damage.

If you find being outflown by a geek in a zeke frustrating,

I don't know how you will get on if you start messing with the sim inner workings :)

Editing aircraft parameters for a player aircraft, edit the aircraft.cfg in wordpad
find and edit or add the following
then adjust the power_scaler to suit.

[piston_engine]
power_scalar=1.00000

For AI planes the AIR file "plane_name.air" contains the data that controls performance in a dogfight. There is a special utility called AirEd LINK (to page on simviation) that is used to edit the AIR file. Setting up airfiles for AI operation is a very tricky. Even subtle changes can radically alter how the aircraft performs and how the AI handle it. It is all too easy to render a carefully modelled plane unusable. Consider that a gentle warning. back up your files before you edit them.

AI aircraft have a lot of advantages... your own wingmen. for example are slightly faster than you. AI do not suffer from G-forces or glare. They see equally well in clouds and in the dark. To paraphrase what Simon wrote at the begining above: get over it. If you go editing cfgs or airfiles you will effect all aircraft of that type - yours and the AI. Try making the "enemy" veterans rather than aces or use the random skill level.

Thanks, that's I allready tried. Also setting more elevator-effectiveness for smaller curve-rates--
--brings earlier stall! Think best option is another(better) playerplane.
Happy + victorious new yaer!:salute:

Sky,

Another option my be to use an air file for the plane with characteristics closer to what you prefer. A different air file would need to be renamed to the current air file name that is being used.

Also there are several sections in the air file that could be edited with AirEd utility that might yield satisfactory results.

1) Can replace section 473 Wing Moment Coeff vs AoA Table with one form the stock A6M2 or F4F or other good flying aircraft.

2) Increase the Main Wing Area in section 1204 Main Wing (although I generally prefer actual aircraft specs, but if all else fails).

3) And if tight turns slow the aircraft too much, lower the Induced Drag Constant found in Main Wing section 1204 by perhaps 1000 or whatever works well.

Oglivie
