PR Spitfire

What with all the new skins coming out, I was wondering if anyone has done one of these? Pink apparently was favored for low vis during low altitude work

Thanks

Thanks Gents,
Grizz graciously sent me one! Nothing like a pink spit to brighten ones day!
Such a manly color!

I don't know for sure but I remember reading years ago that the pink spits were the result of the sun fading the desert tan paint. Sounds like it's plausible but not probable.

For the USAAF aircrafts that were in North Africa, yes.

PR Spits were really pink and were operated in Europe.

I've read that the pink PR Spits were used for low level missions as this was a better colour than blue against the clouds. Some were even armed for missions known as 'Dicing', as in "dicing with death" where they flewto heavily defended targets!

I think that recall reading somewhere that the pink Spits were used for dawn/dusk missions when the clouds themselves took on a pinkish hue.

For what its worth, I first ran into this about 10 years ago in a magazine about Warbirds that was on the rack in LAX. The story there said that the pink color was selected because of the general color of the atmosphere evenings and early mornings over England and Northern Europe during the war years. Had to do with all the factory emissions and battle dust constantly being kicked up. So thats one opinion/story. Anyone have anything more concrete?
