Pre-orders Now what?

SOH-CM-2023
Since I did not preorder MSFS2020 I don' know what to expect for MSFS2024.

What is the procedure to obtain the sim? Does MS send a notification?

If you bought it from MS you go to xbox app and install the purchase. You can install it now but you don't get much more than a notice that says not yet.

I am rather confused with all the options. I have the full monty with 2020. I understand all the planes I do not fly and airports I do not visit will still work in 2024. Yet, looking over the various options, I mostly see the same airplanes and, I assume the same airports. So, do I buy the basic package and move my current airplanes (the ones I use) into 2024 or do I buy the full monty again?

I bought the standard version or basic if you want. I mostly fly addon aircraft from addon airports, so I can't justify the extra cost. Like you, I now have the premium deluxe version of 2020. Not making that mistake anymore.

Cheers,

Priller

I'm trying to decide whether to buy the basic and then buy the Seastar, or just upgrade the package one level. I don't care about the waterbomber, so I think I'll wait until after release and then weigh my options.

They said if you have the Premium Deluxe version, the additional planes added in that version for FS2020 will be available to you in FS2024 even if you get the basic version. (I was really surprised by this!) So taking those 10 planes off the list, there are still 15 additional planes you'll get if you get Premium Deluxe on FS2024, if you already had that edition for 2020:

Deluxe planes not in FS2020 Deluxe:
  • Amphibian Aerospace Albatross G111/HU16
  • Cessna 188 AGTruck
  • Cessna 404 Titan
  • Cessna 408 SkyCourier
  • Dornier Seastar
Premium Deluxe Planes not in FS2022 Premium Deluxe:
  • Airbus Helicopter H225
  • Beechcraft C90 GTX Air
  • The Boeing Company 747-400 Global Supertanker
  • The Boeing Company 747-400 LCE Dreamlifter
  • The Boeing Company C-17 Globemaster III
  • The Boeing Company CH47D Chinook
  • Pilatus PC-24
  • Pipistrel Taurus M
  • Saab 340 B
  • Zlin Aviation Savage Norden

15 planes for $60 is just $4 a plane. (Of course, that assumes you'll fly each one for $4 worth of entertainment. I'll probably get about a dollar out of the helicopter and glider. :) )

The other thing to keep in mind, though, is that Jorg confirmed the Premium discount would continue for Microsoft-published planes. All the Local Legend/Famous Fliers were $9.99 in FS2020 instead of $14.99 if you had PD. So if you're the type to buy at least a few of these, you'll get a portion of the cost back in savings on future purchases as well.

The AGTruck and the Pilatus are the only aircraft I see that look interesting to me in that lineup. I went on the marketpace yesterday but couldn't find the pre-order. I guess I need to go to the App store. I am seriously considering just waiting until the product is out and deciding.
