I was able to get mine for FREE!
I used the coupon that Just Flight offered when the PRO edition came out because I had purchased the PILOT edition-I could purchase the Pro edition for the difference between the price of the PILOT edition, normally $30 USD...

With the PRO on sale (with coupon the final price was $.30 cents) I added 20 Just Rewards points: Total was now $0

Has the regular pilot version ever been on sale?

The Pro version has too many irrelevant features for my kind of flying.
 
Maybe during the Holidays at the end of the end of the year
I just couldn't pass up on the No Cost PRO version...

If I have issues, I will revert to the PILOT edition...

I bought the Dash 8 Q400 Pro at the PC Pilot store last year during a sale. As it turned out, I had a voucher and they also had a 10% daily sale on top of that. I got a $90 model for around $48 and some change. It's a stunning model packed with advanced features. At the level of sim use I am at now, models like this are generally what I mostly buy now.
