Hi,
I just received OVER FLANDERS FIELDS: BETWEEN HEAVEN AND HELL this morning (ordered it less than a week ago), but I had some difficulties to install it.
The problem is solved now, but I'll tell what happened, maybe it can help someone with the same problem.
I had an installation of CFS3 (v3.1a) (the one that served for the installation of OFF Phase 2) that functioned well.
OFF Phase 2 was functioning well also.
When I tried to install, everything went OK until the last step :
After I had
"Upgrade the existing installation in:
J:\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields
J:\WW1Scenery
Setup type:
Full installation
Selected components:
Main Files
Aircraft skins for squadrons and aces
Start Menu folder:
Over Flanders Fields
Additional tasks:
Additional icons:
Create a Desktop Icon"
When I clicked "Upgrade", I kept getting the following error message :
"You must enter a full path with drive letter, for example
C:\APP
or a UNC path in the form:
\\server\share"
The installation wizard did recognise the CF3 installation on my drive J, as well as the previous OFF installation
I have Windows Vista Home premium (x86 64bit),
SP1
DirectX 10.0
Intel Core2 Quad CPUQ9300@2.5 GHz
5 GB ram
Nvidia GeForce 9500 GS
I had a very quick help from the OFF support (telling me, in short, to delete the Phase 2 key in the registry), but I could solve the problem myself … but I don't know exactly how…
In order to check the CFS3 clean install, I tried it again. Everything OK. (I hadn't touched it since I installed if for Phase2.)
When I tried to install Phase 3 again, this time, the install wizard did NOT recognize P2, and, instead of upgrading J:\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields
it wanted to install into J:\OBDSoftware, with 2 subfolders
"CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields" and "WW1Scenery"
from then on, a piece of cake…
FYI, I must say that I have also another (modded–NOT present in the registry though (on an external HD from another PC) - functioning well)
version of CFS3 as well as CFS3 Mediterranean AW and CFS3 Korea on my PC.
This might have perturbed the computer.
In short : in case of installation problem, it might be a good idea to uninstall P2.
