problem with ETO reinsall

SOH-CM-2023
Putting a new ETO install in my C drive (vs. D drive). Using win 7 pro and have put all in Program Files (x86). Changed the master startup bat and global layer bat to reflect this but whatever era I select I seem to stay in era 1 (according to the splash screen). Any ideas??

Might be anti-virus. In mine I can select "exceptions" and I list most active files in the install - cfs3.exe, any of the .bat files, and the config.exe. Might be worth a shot. Have all the right files generated under My Documents and under the App Data pathway to show that the install has all gone in properly?

I have several versions of ETO 1.4 on the D: drive none of which have a problem and yes all the files seem to be in the users/app/microsoft folder. I might just port over the other 1.4 version in D drive, which I renamed to stop interference with the new one.

This is most frustrating! :banghead: I have tried various times to copy over ETO Ex from my d to c drive while changing the global and master startup bats to reflect this + deleting all previous entries in docs and apps/roaming + renaming with multi tool and yet it stays on era 1. Interestingly as the first time I did this the D version was in Era 3 it stayed in that. Am I missing something??:dizzy:

Those using win 7 pro 64, do you put CFS3 in Program Files or Program (x86) Files (which I do for my D drive installs) ? Still only getting era 1. :banghead:

Every one of my CFS3's goes into 'Program Files (x86)' and a
stock one in 'Program Files' (saved and never used).

User Account Control has to be turned down to allow changes, though.
The in-game oleacc.dll has be chucked out...

i have had the same thing in the past. select any other era and the splash screen of era 1 keeps popping up. they advised me to do a ORIF reinstall. go into your eto folder. go to the directory "cfs3 eto expasion readme's". in there you will find a document with instructions named "era files restore".
follow to the letter (so also bmp files that end with "splash24.bmp and the splash24.bmp itself. same with qclocations.xml and all that ends with _qclocations.xml)

after that it should work. if it doesnt you have another problem

The User Account Control (found in Control Panel) does not want any modifications to programs
in either 'Program Files' folder (64bit or 32bit), either by exterior programs or by you.

I think this is why people say to install programs in other than Program Files.

To make the required mods without the UAC making a fuss, I first turn it down to 'never notify' and then edit the batch
files (some are read-only). I suppose for safety's sake, after the edits, it should be turned back to 'always notify'.

Unless there is an error in a batch file, you may be best to do that ORIF thing
that Ganesh (an amazing MP pilot) recommends. (sorry about all the brackets)
