Programming a button for a custom payware switch

Hi all,

I am sure I did not make it very clear in the title what I am looking for.

So, this is the question: Is it possible to program a button to control a switch in a payware plane? For example: I would like to program the primer switches in the Flying Iron P-38 to buttons / switches on my Saitek X56 throttle.

I have tried using MSFS commands to do it but didn't work.

I have tried to bind them through SPADnext, but didn't work.

Is it possible? If so, how?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Joe

You can use 3rd party software to program external switches. FSUIPC7 and Ohs and Ahs allow setting a joystick/HOTAS or many external usb devices. Ohs and Ahs allows you to easily read all of the LVARs (local variables) used by developers to do things not directly associated with MSFS’s normal variables and then bind them to a button or switch. The same thing can be done in FSUIPC7 but it is not as intuitive.

YouTube offers videos on how to use the software to assign commands to the buttons and switches. Both programs also offer extensive manuals. You can also message me with a specific question and I will try and help you.

It's actually Axis and Ohs, but I love the name Ohs and Ahs and am going to call it that from now on.
